Has anyone gone through the process of replacing the lower control arms? I was quoted $2.5 - $3.4k. The front rack has to be dropped?

May be something you can find in the FSM in my signature...but that seems...wrong? I've never heard of needing to drop the whole front rack to replace control arms.
