Well you can call Autozone or some other cheap auto part store and see what they have for prices OR call Infiniti of Scottsdale and buy it from them for $298.23 shipped to your door.

But How bad is the ball joint?

Who is going to do the labor?

Did you price at

http://www.infinitipartsusa.com

$356 seems not much every 180K or so, if you set a side a penny every 10 miles for it.

People don't understand tehy are driving a $56K car in 1995 dollars. No further discounts on parts or labor because of age or current Book Value for Beaters.

I don't care if people disagree but I say go to the junk yard and buy the lower control arm.I replaced both my driver control arms for about $150 including the toe arm.Maybe they'll let it go for $75 check it out.Just make sure the suspension on the car is in good shape and not bent.

If you have more time than money and don't mind repeat labor sooner and if you're feeling lucky.....well, are you?

Do you know what a ball joint is?

You do know that there are rubber components in the lower control are as well as metal, But using old rubber is like child abuse.

Rubber ages with time and not miles.

Would you use an old rubber or some one else' old rubber for that matter.

Sorry my response was meaner than brian's

After 7 years [warranty expiration] a heavy V8 rear wheel drive car goes thru about $1000- $1500 worth of replacement parts per year on average.

Junkyards work great until the cars are 10+ years old when the rubber isolators may be as bad as what you are trying to replace unless all the parts are bagged and stored inside of warehouse.

Nice thing about 1990 is you have 90-96 to chose from unfortunately we are now 3 years beyond the goodnesss point of even the newest suitable model.Even new parts are compomised if made back in 1995.

Consider if you would SHOULD even buy a brand new tire made in 2000 or even 2005 and stored inside. Those nasty little ozone molecules eat rubber and change it from the inside.

Most smart socialist EU countries and Japan have inspection laws to protect the public from junkyard parts and the general aging of cars.Makes driving expensive and promotes the purchase of newer and new cars to support their domestic car companies.

70,000 miles sounds early for ball joint failure, especially for a garage kept car in florida? Maybe accident related damage? Most make it over 200,000 miles.

I went to the junk yard and found a slightly used on for my previous 94. It cost me $75 to replace. Its about what your pockets look like. I didn't have $500 either to replace it so I rolled the dice and got 4-5-6. I would trust a salvage yard with things like Air Mass Meters and Fuel Units but other things can be had at good rates.

That's what I usually do. Grab multiples from the junkyard. I figure even if I have to replace the used part in a year, I'm still getting away cheaper than with a new part with the only cost being a little effort.

I bought my Q with slightly under 70,000. Plenty of rubber parts to replace from sitting and time.

If you will search my posts you will find fairly detailed directions on how to replace the BJ. Not so tough if you posess basic mechanical and analytical skills.
