I am a high schooler in Ohio and I have a wastegate for my t3 setup that i am going to put on my 89 coupe and it says that it is adjustable between 9 to 19 pounds. Thats WAY too mutch for what i feel comftorable running. Would my manual boost controller be able to lower the boost even further or am i looking at having to put on a different wastegate? Plus where does my oil feed line come from?

no, a boost controller works by blocking the signal to the wg. therefore it can only increase boost. what kind of wg is it?

Your wastegate pressure is usually determined by the size of the spring inside the gate itself. What they probably mean is you can put stronger springs in it up to a 19 psi base pressure. That probably isnt the pressure spring that you have in there now though. ...You should find out what spring you do have.

A boost controller can never lower the boost pressure below your spring pressure, you can only raise it farther up.

Oil feeds usually come from the oil pressure switch/sending unit that is directly next to your oil filter (on the right). Usually people unscrew the oil pressure port there, add in a "T" fitting, and then reinstall the pressure sender along with your oil feed line to the turbo.

Good luck with your project!

was the wastegate bought used or new from a person or a shop? definitely test out the wastegate to see what its at.

Yeah, i bought it off of e-bay (of course) and i honestly have no idea what size of spring it has in it but i can barely open it with both of my thumbs so i guess it would be a good idea to check it out before i blow it up.

OH YEAH!!!! My 240 just had to get towed yesterday!! I was driving along minding my own business and when i went to take off after a stop sign and my engine bogged down, died, and wouldn't start! When i got it home it ran fine. The next day it started acting funny again. When i hit the gas it wanted to staul and it was blowing black smoke. This makes me think that it is running rich but why, and why then does it randomly start and stop doing it? but when your going down the road when it is doing it, you can notice it's not running right but it doesn't want to crap out untill the rpm's go under 1,300. This may be my first car that i have to take to a mechanic cuz it's got me. This puts the turbo on hold. Darn curse of my 87 supra!!!

I did some research (in other words i looked on e-bay) and what do u reccomend, a 3.83 spring?, a 5.87?, or a 9.2? I am running a completely stock motor with 100k miles and i am making the manifold myself and I am putting everything togeather myself, so it's not going to be show quality but i don't want to rig this project or risk blowing it up over something stupid.

i had an 89 and a 91 supra turbo. Those cars made me VERY proficient at trouble shooting and fixing my own car. Also very proficient at cussing, cutting myself, busting my head, ruining clothes, calling tow trucks, replacing headgaskets, replacing headgaskets, and ..oh yeah...replacing headgaskets. I have never had good luck with ebay, because there is no trust nor liability with most of the companies on it. I would purchase a kit like that of boost designs or other great companies that have an established record

Yeah, for some reason my supra would try to piss u off with random unrelated problems. I bought it for 400 dollars (114,000 miles on it) and sold the wheels off it for 450 (ha!). With that money i bought the transmission that it needed and put it in myself (age 16). Then all hell broke loose, like wheels falling off when youre driving, headlights litteraly exploding, water hoses busting, headgaskets blowing, bungee corded brake calipers, and electrical problems up the a**. I got so good at removing the intake crossover (supra owners know what im talking about) that i could have it on and off in less that 7 min! so i sold it for 750 just to get rid of it (age 17). Then i hit a tree going 80 mph right in the drivers side door in my targa top 92 civic hatchback while going to school , so i ended up with a 89 240 hb for free (hole the size of your fist on the block but it would still start!!) and sold it for 400, and bought my 89 coupe soon to be turbo (hopefully!!)

$400 isn't even enough money to buy rolling chasis supra(no matter what year)... it's a maricle you got that car for that price, and on top of that it's a miracle that's you're still alive if you drove it without major overhauling... $400 cars usually aren't the safest ones out there... be sure to check everything over, and then over again before driving cars you paid so little money for... there is usually a reason it's cheap.

Yeah, i promised myself that since my new 240 is my first car to cost over $1000, that i'd try not to rig things. My other cars weren't wat i wanted, so i just drove the piss out of them, and cut random things off of them to make people laugh (hense 92 civic hatchback targa). The supra was deemed unfixable in my mind, so i just drove it till i got tired of it. The only thing that worked on it was the transmission i put in and the cool power seats and suspension. Ohio is a big farm state so i can always get cheap imports from farmers who don't want them, but for now, my 240 is my first car that i can say that i like. I think i'll have it till i wreck it. next prodject is my free 84 crx (blown headgasket). me and some friends r putting 33in boggers and stacks with flaps coming out of the hood on it. Jus somethin to do i guess.
