Im working on a 1996 240sx with 17,000 miles on it. The vacum at idle is 8 inchs i have just put new intake gaskets in it and have checked all vacum lines and i cant find out what is going on. compression is 165-180 lbs, and from idle to about 1500 rpm's it falls on its face and then picks up. I have checked backpressure and thats good to. Please someone help me im pulling my hair out..

Wow savage MN? I used to live in burnsville a few years ago

There could be a malfunction in one of your emissions control devices or idle regulators. If the 96 is OBDII you might be able to check it that way. It also could be just something your overlooking because its so small, if you can find a good picture of a stock KA24DE and see of all the vacuum lines are routed correctly. I had an issue with mine, when I painted my manifold I routed a line wrong and it was doing something similiar, of course mine is a single-cam though.
