So must of that turbo's i'v seen for high range applications w/ 272 cams. Drag applications. I just want some opinions/recommandations for a fast spool low-mid range applications.

Fast spooling low to midrange would be T25 or T28. GT28RS hits a little higher then the T28 and the GT2871R is the best of everything. Fast spool, 20psi by 4krpm, near 375whp. Cant go wrong.

Codyce has his posted a few threads down. He put down 400whp. His full boost was at 4300rpm or so. Youll have quicker boost response and faster spool on stock intake manifold. Along with more midrange torque .

Well i didn't know that full boost around 4300 = fast spool.

zerothread/213470Cody stated that he achieved full boost from 3400-3700rpm on the street.

i'd look into the gt28rs a.k.a disco potato or the gt2871r (both a/r housings... .64 and .86) of course the .64 will spool faster but after doing research on the gt3076r with both the .63 and .84 a/r housings the .84 a/r housing only spools 250rpm slower than the .63 and has a lot less backpressure than the . 63 which can be bad for the engine

Doesnt sound fast but when your in the car and you feel boost being built, the torque is enough to break the tires loose like nothing. You can get 20psi earlier from the T28 but the power and torque isnt gonna be there compared to the 2871R. When racing, your mostly never below 4krpm which the 2871R .64 would spool very fast at that rpm.

right..when racing your most of the time over 4krpm..take for instance the gt2871r which i think you should get because it is capable of more power than the disco potato...the .64 and .86 a/r turbine housings..one is at 20 psi by 4krpm and the other just a little over 4krpm...but that 4krpm or 4300rpm comes so quickly with the .86 anyways because the spool difference is not that dramatic...from that point on its about making as much power as you can which would call for the .86..plus that .86 turbine housing isnt a bottleneck like the .64 a.k.a. less backpressure/ less strain on the engine

For referance, its about 500rpm difference in spool from 2871R .64 to .86. Also a 25whp 25tq difference. Expect 4000rpm-4300rpm with .64 @ 20psi. Expect 4500-4800rpm with .86 @ 20psi. You want midrange, go 2871R .64. Itll make peak torque @ 4krpm and peak horsepower @ 7krpm.

Any price range difference, because if it isn't dramatic either then i'll look into it for my next performence upgrade

2871R costs around 1100-1200. GT28RS costs the same so why not go with the better GT2871R. New GT28R costs 800-900 so whats another 200-300 bucks really.
