I'm so tired of saving and saving and not getting anywhere. I'd like to set up a turbo for at least cheaper than $2000 with room for improvement and higher boost later on. i'm thinking like 4-5 psi. just keeping it simple and basic until the cash starts to build up again. any help or reccomendations?

-i want a t3/t4 50 trim so i can boost her up nicely later on.-jgstools manifold..i think they have premade ones now.-some kind of cheaper, but good bov.-tial wastegate.-i guess an intercooler from jgstools... piping and miscellaneous crap.

what about the fuel management at such a low boost? what else would i need? maybe a walbro? :help

You could do a non-intercooled 4psi setup for now...but it would be VERY close to the limit of the stock injectors. 270s should be good for ~195rwhp MAXIMUM...and I made 201rwhp at 4.35psi with a 57-trim (non-intercooled).

So I wouldn't reccomend it with stock injectors, but if you got your hands on a set of 370s, go fo it. Knock the base timing back a degree for safety...

I ran 6psi non-intercooled for 3 months and it ran great...IMO, an intercooler is almost not needed until 7-8psi. Granted, there will be power gains from using one, but the air temp of 4psi from a 50-trim (4psi is at the edge of the map at 68% efficiency at redline on a KA )is about 160 F...same turbo with a good intercooler at 20psi is about the same outlet temp, but obviously with MUCH higher cylinder pressure. So it's easily doable w/o fear of detonation.

go with 1st gen eclipse bov, they are cheap as hell and they are pretty good.I'd try and run an IC anyway, you can score an old starion core for around 100 bucks usually, and they would be ideal for 200-250 hp.I'd also probably want 370cc injectors, but they are also another 100 bucks...*shrugs*

brian, i've checked out your site and it's bad ***. real good content. i also have a champagne gold '96. :)

i was wondering about the intercooler too...that should save a bunch of cash if i wait on it. use that money to maybe buy 370cc injectors. and maybe look around for a starion core.

andrave, i'm gonna search for one of those blow off valves..thanks guys.

slap an internal wastegate on there to save some dough. You can find these on ebay or any turbo shop will have tons laying around.

bov - get a new bosch for ~ $30

370's - i found mine for $75 shipped on freshalloy

used s-afc $150 or cheaper on honda-tech FI classifieds

USED intercooler. they dont really wear out
