Low pressure sensor turning on due to tints?

My pressure sensor went off this morning. While I was having a radio installed this afternoon, the installer said the problem is most likely a result of the tints blocking the sensor from registering properly? Is this accurate?

I really do not want to drive with that light on, I would probably rather remove the tints.

Any advice?

Thanks

That doesn't seem feasible even in the slightest. I've got fully metalized tint film on my V and no problems whatsoever. I know there are a lot of members on here that have tinted their V's, and if it was a problem, we would have heard about it a long time ago. Kind of like the dash rattle problem.....

Ummm...no? I think that installer has hit the bong 1 too many times. Tint has nothing to do with your TPMS.

That's like saying eating a hot dog made my TV turn off.

I might be showing my age but...what does "QFT" mean?

No offense, but having worked in computer support for some time I've learned these questions sometimes need to be asked.

Your light went off this morning....did you check your tire pressure?

Other than that I have to agree with Knightro, and I want some of what your installer is having. Each tire sends its signal to the remote keyless entry system. Window tint should have nothing to do with this.

Oh..and knightro, QFT means "quoted for truth". (I just turned 50 )

the tire pressure light will come on if the pressure is 27psi or lower, and since it happen during the morning when its cold. I'm bet one of your tires were low. It the BCM lost contact with the monitors, the light will flash. This is the season when everyone comes in b/c of their damn light, but hey it gets them in the door.

It will also possibly trip by the cold weather (first colder day of the year) and will need to be reset by the dealership.

Ahh, so that's what QFT means. I'm about to turn 29 and didn't know that. I know about "stupid questions". I'm a Systems Engineer and had a person complain her monitor was broken...yea...she never turned it on.

Dang, I'm older than you. I get all of my online jargon at computer and car audio forums, so I've just about seen them all.

actually eating a hot dog can make your tv go off. You can eat a hot dog and then get so full that u would fall asleep and accidenlty hit the power button on the remote.

AS FOR TPMS, thats some BS they telling u. there is no sensor inside the car that has anything to do with sunlight. If that was the case then when the sun would go down the light would go on.

Your TPMS should not have to be reset by the dealer. Fill all four tires to 40 PSI with the ignition off (not required, but suggested); the light should go off. Then, adjust tires to proper inflation. That simple!! Yes, these sensors communicate to the vehicle via radio waves, so the metallized tint question isn't a bad one. It's not the answer, though. The sensors are located somewhere near the wheels. **CORRECTION!!!** The TPMS reciever is located near the center/rear of the cowl, and is the same transceiver used for the remote keyless entry!!

If your light is flashing, you likely have a malfunctioning sensor or body control module; that is a dealer visit.

Steady "on" generally means a bonafide low pressure situation.

Welcome to NICO!!

HA! A thing that isnt near the wheel and isnt even connected to the tires will not cause it to screw up, much less any tint.

You and I both know this; but to someone who does not understand how radio frequencies work, the metalized tint may be the only possible cause they can think of. In all actuality, you'd have to encase the car in a lead sarcophagus for the wireless transmitters to not work. The receiver would have to be in the car, and the transmitters (pressure modules) outside the lead sarcophagus. Keep in mind, interference may also be caused by any wireless device that just happens to use the same exact frequency those four wheel sensors run on. This is unlikely, but possible.
