Hello, I was dead set on getting a Kicker ZX750.1 or 08ZX750.1 amp Kicker 08ZX750.1 Mono today but last night I was doing more researching and read a review that said this particular model starts it's low pass filter at 50hz to 200hz.

The review said:Quote »no low end bassWritten By james big, california on Monday, June 30, 2008

I bought this amp with great hopes and spent alot of money thinken I was geting the best!!!!! boy was I wrong...........There really is no low end bass!!!The only way to make this amp sound almost decent is too turn the bass bost all the way down......So you can only adjust the low pass and thats it!!!Plus the low pass is 50hz so your missing part of the bass. The low rumbling bass that I love.....................On the plus side this amp has alot of power.and will make your car shake. Also I think it whould last along time. But If you really want your music to sound good.Don't buy this amp,buy a mtx, eclipse,Jl slash or a fosgate. [/quote]Now does anyone have this amp and notice actually while listening to certain songs that it's missing that deep bass? I was totally shocked at this and if true then have to find a new amp to get.

Just wondering if anyone have tips, ideas on this? Does it matter and make a big difference?

Basically looking to power a 10"L7 or 12"L5 both need @ 700W RMS. Decent amp @ $200ish on ebay/Craig's list and starting low end @ 25/30hz.

Looking at:HIFONICS BXI-1210Dhttp://www.audiosavings.com/pr....aspx

POWER ACOUSTIK STAX2000/1Dhttp://www.audiosavings.com/pr....aspx

POWER ACOUSTIK STAX2000/1Dhttp://www.audiosavings.com/pr....aspx

What would anyone say about these brands:# POWER ACOUSTIK (10)# PLANET AUDIO (6)# HIFONICS (5)# US AMPS (4)

Also why are there two sets of +/- speaker outputs on MONO amps? Shouldn't there be 1 if your powering 1 sub?

that doesn't make sense..... yes the low pass filter starts at 50Hz, but the amps frequency response still begins at 25Hz.... so that just means that you cannot cutoff anything below 50Hz, not the other way around. so, it should produce the lows well.....

100% correct...

lowpass means it will only produce frequencies below the set point... i.e. if low pass is set to 100, it'll amplify freqs. 25Hz to 100Hz.. etc

Thanks Viper. Does anyone else agree, 2nd that suggestion? It wasn't just that 1 review but I searched and saw this was commented on by multiple reviewers about it. So I just want to be 100% before jumping on getting this amp and not regretting it.TIA...

OK! 1 minute too late I was posting that as the Dr. himself was replying!!! Thanks Doc!

I was checking out that HiFonics amp as an alternative to the 750 and it seemed pretty decent. It's seems to have more features and a bit cheaper as well.

The HiFonics BX1201D seems to have more options than the 08ZX750.1. Is $70 cheaper and come with a 2yr warranty. Kicker 1 year. What amp would folks choose here?Hifonics: http://www.audiosavings.com/pr....aspxKicker: http://www.audiosavings.com/pr....aspx

THANKS!!!

I know of many people that have been pleased with Hifonics. I would consider that a good budget level amp. Then again, my opinion is not entirely based on personal experience since I haven't run a "budget" (my term, comparatively speaking) in well over a handful of years...

I have heard kicker amps and I was NOT a fan... hifonics USED to be a great budget company... but they redisgned their line and quality (from reatively speaking) suffered a bit across the board... not as drastic as what happend with MB Quart, but still, a bit of a difference... but if you are going with a budget system, I don't think its a bad company to run with...
