Low/no oil pressure = no start?

On Honda engines, if there is no oil pressure or too low of an oil pressure, they won't start...

I've dug through the FSM's I have on RB25's and found nothing regarding the same type of setup on them....

So my question is, will an RB25 with no or low oil pressure still start?

Mine is currently not starting, but it's turning over fast and strong, has spark and gas and everything is plugged in and fine. This is coming from running strong then having the battery give out on me. After trying to jumpstart and having no luck I replaced the battery and it's still not running.

I know I've got one coil crapping out, but it was running fine before.. I'm kind of at a loss.

At this stage I'm praying maybe it's low on oil or the oil pump is out and that's why it's not cranking. Suggestions are welcome though. The timing belt isn't snapped or anything and there aren't any other noises or anything at all apparently wrong. It just went from running with a bad battery to not starting.

what hondas are you talking about? ive never seen that on an import car. chevy did it for a while but it was horrible because it was a buggy system

the RB will start fine regardless of oil pressure. lets just hope it has some haha

its sounds like you have no compression check your compression to make sure its good.an engine needs 4 things to startfuel, spark, air, compression so since you have 3 of those check the last one.also an engine can run without oil psi just not for a long time lol

Damn.

Well I have no idea what's up then. It's weird for it to go from running fine to not starting from just a battery going out.

I'll have to pull plugs tomorrow and see what's up. -sigh-

Yeah, I've already checked everything except the compression, but I still fail to see how it would lose compression from the battery going bad.

I pulled the supply line off the fuel filter and got a nice stream of gas with key on...

For spark I cheated a little and stuck my timing light on the test wire and cranked if over, so it is possible that the plugs themselves aren't firing.. I took a shortcut, I know..

I checked all the intake and piping for collapsed, crushed or damaged hoses and found nada. Even check to make sure the TB was good and it wasn't blocked, siezed or maybe something lodged in the butterfly..

I do know one coil at least is cracked, and it almost definitely needs a set of plugs, but I figured it would still start since it was doing so fine before the battery went dead.

What about water in the gas? I would think it would lock up... but it is a low compression motor... Just trying to puzzle this out.. heh... You guys know how it is sometimes.

pull the plugs and check them cause maybe the gap is out of spec i changed my gap from .032" to .025" cause it helps prevent spark blowout.i recently had to change my plugs cause it was missing but it still was able to start. check your plugs and also check for spark for real and see if you actually get spark to the plugs.

Yeah that's one of the big things I'm going to check next. I had just cleaned and re-gapped the plugs a few weeks ago, but I know they are overdue to be changed.

Incidentally, I have listed the car for sale on craigs list and locally just now. I have so much sentimental value and love tied up in this car, but I have just come to realize I have neither the budget nor the location to work on it and finish it, and nowhere to store it. Daily driving it is just causing more and more problems because it's not really ready for that. It makes me sick to my stomach but I think if somebody makes a good enough offer I'm going to have to let it go.

Man I'd give my left nut to work in a performance shop instead of a dealership. Oh well. Thanks guys for your help and replies, and if I figure it out I'll let ya know what it was.
