At the risk of pissing off a significant portion of our NICO community, I have to speak about rust. I grew up on the east coast. Our cars are disposable due to rust. It's unavoidable.
We just bought a '95 Q that spent it's first winter (or maybe 2, not sure) in NJ and the remainder of it's life in AZ. Our "old" Q ('92) has spent it's whole life here in the lower mainland of BC. The nuts and bolts under the '95 are a rusty mess. If we have to take apart the exhaust behind the cats, the bolts will have to be torched. If we have to adjust the rear alignment, the bolts may very likely tear the rubber bushings as they come loose.
By comparison, none of this hardware on our '92 has any of this flaky rust on them. The surfaces are discoloured but otherwise like new. I never thought for a second that such a short time in the Northeast could have such a longterm impact. We've sprayed eveything with a penetrating lubricant and will a couple of more times to see if it'll help.
Again, experience talking. I'm not saying don't, just balance costs and needs.
