Great forum! The community here is very helpful and I wanted to thank all of you for contributing to such a great resource. I hope to join the club of Q ownership very soon.

I am in the market for a 94 or 95 Q45 and came across a '94 with 37K original miles. The current owner is asking $10K for it.

Is this an OK price for a 100% stock, dealer maintained car? It comes with service records, and is in excellent condition inside and out. Sounds a bit high, but there is not much out there to compare it to as far as mileage.

Are there any potential problems to look for in a car like this that has not been driven that much over the years?

where in CA are you? damn, i'd love to see that car, and if everything worked good would definitely make an offer. all the rubber will likely be deteriorated, so still be prepared to do a lot of near term maint. ALL fluids.look for leaks, as seals may have hardened at front and rear crankshaft, rear of trans.but, you'd prolly have the lowest mile G50 there is.

what kinds of things are in the dealer service records? oil changes every 6mos and 1250 miles?

In my opinion, the reason behind a new car isn't just low mileage, its the warranty coverage. At 37k things that could have been fix by the dealer have not. Hoses are aging. I would spend $6-7k and find a vehicle with 50-70,000 miles.

Some cars, especially the Q, age better when driven.

I agree somewhat with the others are saying.

BUT, it depends how the 37,000 miles were put on the car. Like for instance, if the car had 35,000 miles put on it the first year, and sat for 11 years in the back yard, that is bad. If the car had 2,500 miles put on it each year, was garaged, and had the service done every 12 months, that is good.

I bought a 97,000 mile Q for $4,500, then put a couple thousand into it getting all the nitpicky things fixed, and a couple more thousand on "upgrades" (see Lola below).

IF the car drives tight, and there are no squeaks, and you like it, then it sounds like a good deal.

Be sure you have enough money to flush ALL the fluids and replace things like belts, hoses, & tires (if the tires are the originals, they are probably not safe anymore).

Just dont pay too much for low miles... its kind of useless on a Q.. When you can get an additional 150k out of a Q with 150k already on the clock, it seems kind of stupid to pay 10k for that car, when you can pay 4k for that... I get scared with low miles, unless its stupid low miles like that one 91 Q with 15k miles.....

I'd sell you my Q for 10k and itd be a better use of that money IMO.

I like low wear G50, but verify condition by having an Infiniti Senior Technicican do the inspection.

Be aware also that all the rubber has still been exposed to 12 years of CA ozone, and is shot. If it is a standard, I would try for $7,500. Less for an a, maybe $8K for a t, if you really want HICAS, heated seats and CD Player.

TCS models are interesting, not for the TCS necessarily, but because they are a true 4 channel ABS.

I bought a 1991 Q45 about 2 years ago for $6,000. It had 70k, but only 26k on the engine. It was competely dealer-maintained. The point is...$10k is way too much to pay for a 94 Q.

Thanks for the input. I plan to meet the owner later this week to see the car, review the service records, and hopefully get it checked out by an Infiniti service tech with G50 experience. Depending on how that goes, I'll make an offer. $10K is too high.

According to the owner, the car has been taken to the dealer regularly. I'm not sure what regularly means, but hopefully it was at least every 12 months for oil changes. I'm worried that the transmission fluid might not have been changed at all, but I will check that.

The mileage (37k) was put on gradually over the years.

I'll keep you posted on how things go.

Please do. We like to see extraordinary examples in the hands and care of someone who appreciates the G50
