Wow, he is asking alot for a 16 year old complicated car! Even with 69K on the clock, time deteriorates a vehicle as much as miles driven. Bet it still needs 4-6K put into it to bring it to NICO standards!

After buying an owning a Q45a first hand that came with full service records from Infiniti, I believe that he's asking too much, considering all of his ACTIVE suspension is still original and plastic guides haven't been replaced like Brian mentioned. What about all the other regular Q service stuff?

He also says "Only one in the world like it". He is trying to dump his car on an uninformed buyer. I feel sorry for whomever buys that car.

I am in the process of buying a '94 Q45a from the Inifiniti dealership where it was bought new, and I have 8 pages of detailed service history, all done at that dealership - this original owner even had his batteries, tires, car washes and detailing done at the dealership - no one has ever touched this car except Tucson Infiniti. Pictures at ebay 200 207 856 830.

This car has 69,000 miles, metal guides, longest oil change interval was 3,800 miles and nearly $5,000 in service work in the last 10,000 miles (upper links, strut assembly boots, steering rack, water pump, belts, hoses, brakes, tires, etc.). At Keith bowers suggestion, I even talked them into running a detailed CONSULT on the suspension system so I can export the results to Keith for service advice - and they did it for free!

Now here's the hard part - it was really tough on me to pay what I thought to be a premium price on this "a" model - $4,800. - the most I've paid before was $3,200 for my 1990 about 6 years ago. So this guy in San Francisco at $7,500 is really hoping to skim the market and pick up one uninformed buyer. But it can happen - a local guy here stumbled into a '96 Q45t with 53,000 miles, bought it, kept it 2 months, then sold it for $9,000 (or so he said - but I did see his local ad and that was the price).

I guess if he can get that price more power to him. I'd be lucky to pull 7K for mine!

kinda make me sad that these cars are basically worthless.. Should late 80s BMWs with 70k miles be going for 8000 or more? While 6000 is too much for an old Q? Just throwing it out there..

The professional auction/used market knows what things cost to repair!

That usually sets half the VALUE of a used car.

I always assume a used car at 10 years is worth 10% of its new MSRP then subtract the repair cost of known defects. If the value is negative I add back until I reach $1000 the junkyard value.

With very new parts on an old car it gets harder to calculate because a owner who just spent $3500 for a new remanned transmission only Last MONTH has $1700 less removal cost less ratio pf 12k mileage in real saleable value.

Most used cars are way over valued due to the dealer/lot profit and the unknown cost to repair/restore them to functioning.

Amazing how many posts here "say I just bought my Q and now this and that is wrong".................duh it was wrong before they purchased just that they didn't notice or understand it.

Craigslist. He'll be back in a week looking for $6500, then $6000, etc., etc.. Reality will set in when the price drops below $5000.

There's been a dealer owned pearl white 91Q advertised almost every week on Sacramento Craigslist for over a year now. The asking price started at $3995 and hasn't changed (and he still hasn't sold the Q).

Any bets if the poor new owner will find us?

I bet Mr. Nice Guy didn't tell him about us.

Anyone that trusted this guy enough to show up with $2K to drive it......

He actually bought the car for $3800 with the intention of flipping it for a profit. He knows the active is down and was hoping to screw someone over.
