some questions about low jack, for people who actually have/had it, or knows people who does

1) the theory is sound but what are some limitation of it? by that I meant like if thief park the car in middle of no where, can they still trace it? what if parked in a place with lots of noise where it might actually prevent the car to be detected?

2) how much am going to pay initially? what about monthly or annual after the install?

3) other than the low jack company, are there other similar companies that does the same thing?

I've said it before(at least I think I have), and I'll say it again. I can't stand the idea of someone being able to track me or my car anytime anywhere, I'm just a personal person like that. Now a tracking device that only you can't track, thats different but expensive from those places that sell spy equip.

Its mostly a question of how interested the police are in tracking the car since they are the ones that will ultimately be called. Some are rather cavalier about auto-theft. They have "more important" things to take care of.

A better goal would to be to try to make the car so difficult to steal, they never take it in the first place.

If they have a flatbed, then nothing you do will stop them. On the other hand, how many petty thieves use flatbeds?

Lo Jack...well if they can find your car quickly enough, its worth it. But say your car gets stolen in the middle of the night while you're asleep--by the time you get to reporting your car to the company, it'll be stripped.

Perhaps, but not for a $3000 car. And if you did mod it out and make it worth stealing, why are you parking it on the street?

If someone wants your car and they're serious about it, they'll get it. Ever see repo men tow a car? They'll tow that thing from either end whether the wheels roll or not. I saw something on Discovery where they towed a FWD car with the rear wheels in the air and the front ones just dragging along the ground.

Anyway, Lojack is cool and might save you some money on your comprehensive (or Other Than Collision) premiums on your car. Ask your agent/company.

I believe Onstar offers a similar service, but I'm not 100% sure.
