Hey guys, I've had my rogue for 2 1/2 years now, and I've noticed some occurring problems with my rogue. The car has about 82,300 miles now. Ive noticed when the car has been driving for a while whenever i come to a red light, the car will idle at about 800, 900 rpm which is fine (i think) but then after 30 seconds it will drop down to about 300/400 rpm when the car will shake like its about to stall out. Ive been trying to figure it out for a while, i asked my dad and he told me to try putting mid grade gas in to see what happens. Tried it and it didn't do it as much. I don't think thats the solution for it considering the rogue takes regular gas. Another problem that I've had lately is whenever I'm on the highway driving about 65/70 mph the car vibrates until i hit about 80/85 mph. Ive gotten my rotors shaved already so i don't believe thats the issue. I did have a flat a couple weeks ago so i thought it could of screwed up my alignment. Bringing the car in sometime this week to one of my mechanics, if anyone has a lead or any idea what it could be so that i can tell the mechanic. Greatly appreciate this forum,
thanks!

The fuel grade has nothing to do with this concern.
Of course, all the basic things like checking for vacuum leaks, broken hoses, and a good visual inspection should be done.
A tech can check for DTCs, and the Idle Air Control Valve (IACV) for correct operation, and make sure the base idle speed is correct.
I would have your tire balance checked, and the general condition of the tires, like bulges, lumps etc. Did a wheel get left loose after the flat?
Rotor problems rarely show up until you touch the brakes.

Yeah I didn't think the fuel grade would have anything to do with it either. I'd figure to give it a shot considering my dad does all the maintenance on my car. The tires are actually in pretty good shape. I got them in November so I guess I should just get them balanced and see what happens. Should I get an allignment too? And I will tell my mechanic to check for possible leakes and etc. thanks so much for replying to this

Alignment problems are not a direct cause of your vibration unless it has caused improper tire wear.

easiest thing to check is your tire pressure. Make sure all 4 are correct. If one is down 15psi that could do it as well.
If that is fine, I agree with wheel balance, some of the weights may have come off the wheel. If you just got new tires in November they would have balanced them then. Check with them and see if they will take a look for free.

Hello, I too, have the same low idle problem when I come to a light. I was told not to drive the car like a race car......Alot of times the low idle happens when I have to brake fast for a light after getting the car up to "high" speed, like on a stop light controlled highway. I have over 212,000 miles on my 2008 Rogue and still have that same problem.? The vibration sounds like your wheels and tires need hi-speed balance.

Make sure your CVT isn't overfilled at all. Should be well below max when fully hot.
Good luck

I had the same problem about two years ago. I posted the solution elsewhere in this forum. In short, the Nissan Service Center reprogramed the throttle control and ECM modules, which solved the low idle problem. I googled the procedures the Service Rep told me they performed, and found a link pointing to what I believe are various procedures that have to be performed in sequence. There are 3 or 4 different procedures, and they seem DIY but the Service Center performed them under warranty at no cost to me. I'm posting the link here in case it helps someone else with the same problem:

I would suggest printing them out and consulting a Nissan tech first.

Hope this helps.

Regards
