My 92' 5 speed idles at about 700-800rpm. A mechanic said there was a chip that would fix the low idle. I thought 700-800 was
fine-Is there such a chip that he was talking about-sorry newbie here-thanks-Rolf

Definitely get a new mechanic. That idle is just fine, maybe a little lower but otherwise you're good. For reference, this is how to adjust idle (takes all of 5 minutes):

Stop taking your Z to a normal mechanic, and find one that specializes in Zs. http://z32.wikispaces.com/Idle+Control
