Ok, my car idles ~400 rpms lower than normal, my car seems to stumble, and accelerates better at part-throttle than at full throttle. Huge drop in power.

So I check my TPS with a multimeter. The harness side seems fine, with a good ground, and about 5V on B and C pins. I check the TPS, at closed throttle (pin B) i have ~1KOhm, at WOT, I have Just over 8KOhms. Isn't it supposed to max out at ~10? Could this be my problem? I disconnected my TPS and drove the car, there didn't seem to be much of a difference in the action of the car.

What's the consensus? Bad TPS? New TPS is 44 bucks, but I'd rather not spend it without knowing for sure that's the problem.

Thanks in advance for your help.

(and for the people who helped me last time, you guys rock! My coolant temp sensor was disconnected)

that could possibly be a tps issue. what you would do for that is check that you are getting the proper voltage sweep at the ecm. you know 0-5v at the ecm signal wire. a bad closed throttle switch will usually cause an idle at like 1400 rpms. quite the opposite. most cars that like part throttle and hate full throttle with a huge drop in power seem to be lean issues. i have seen them with bad maf's, jumped time, dist off a toothe, etc. of course that is not just 240's. if you can get your car to mess up, spray some carb cleaner into one of the vac hoses(disconnected) and see if it does better while "on the carb."

My FSM says that a bad TPS signal will cause a low idle and poor acceleration.

Something about the ECU disregarding the TPS signal if the voltage is abnormally low or high.

How can I check the post-sensor voltage if the sensor has to be connected for the voltage to be present?

Find someone with a Consult or Nprobe . Check to make sure your voltage is <.5 at idle with the idle switch on. Second, the air regulator on the rear of the engine is known for causing the problems you've described. disconnect the large hose in the center of your balance tube (engine off) and spray as much wd 40 as possible into it. re connect drive 5 miles or so and see if that has helped. The other problems lie in the MAF and the PTU unit

Captain,

Does this sound like the same issue you are having??http://www.nissaninfiniticlub....80263

Does your battery light come on while the car is idling but will dim off as you increase the RPMs??

No. At idle, and no load, it will rev fine, if a little roughly.

Could my timing be off? My upper chain slaps pretty bad, I have a spare tensioner, I'm just lazy. Could I have skipped a tooth? Whats the easiest way to check?

This wasn't really a progressive thing. I started my car one day and BAM! It sucks.

typically a bad tps will cause the ecm to think the throttle is open and it will idle up a little. that does not rule out the tps though. what you need to do is go to a sewing supply company and buy a box of t-pins. you can use them to backprobe the ecm connector on the tps signal wire. in order to backprobe, you slip the t-pin in the connector right next to the wire. it will go inside the rubber insulator. that way you can check with the connector hooked up and see exactly what the ecm sees.
