Low idle speed after restart 1997 I30

After the car warms up and I shut down for a few minutes, the car will not idle at all.The car is warm, I stop for a soda at the store and restart the car will not idle. I need to keep pumping the pedal to keep it going. Drive a few blocks and it will start to idle again until I shut off and restart.Also when I decelerate off the freeway, the motor will pulsate real bad. No foot on the gas, just coasting to a stop the motor pulsates so bad it jerks you around a bit in the car.Are these things related? HELP!!!!!!!:(

They very well could be. I can't imagine your check engine light isn't on with actual symptoms! The OBDII system in my 97 truck is so sensitive that almost anything sets it off - even when it runs fine. If it's not on, make sure it comes on during the lamp self-test (when you first turn the key to the "on" position). If it's on you'll need to pull the codes. Sounds like a fuel mixture problem, but knowing a trouble code will help a lot.

some more background would help, miles, recent services, etc.i suppose it runs great above idle.i'll take a stab that your IACV might be out of adjust. this happened on my former 95 max [also had vq30de as you do].if you turn the a/c on, the IACV should compensate by bringing the idle up. if it then appears to run fine, you might then just need to reset your base idle.

Resetting the base idle is a cover up fix, Fix the problem [clean the crud out] and the correct idle will return.
