low idle :angryfire

I've noticed my 93 j30 Idles very low sometimes and just die when I'm at a redlight. What is the standard idle speed?

I was driving last night and had to stop hard *wasn't a screeching stop*. I notice that after i made the complete stop, the car's RPM went all da way down to 0 and died. It's happened before but I thought it might've been the a/c, but last night all the windows were down and the a/c was off. any suggestions? when the car is warmed up I believe it idles at 600. will have to dbl check.

I had a vehicle that did this when the timing belt was worn. I cant explain why. Everything else was normal, but sometimes when accelerating it would just die, I'd have to start it up, and I'd get going again without problems.

I always say this but hey you never know. Check the throttle position sensor as a matter of fact see if you could get a diagnostic done. Could be early signs of alternator failure also.

all the belts was changed a couple months ago. I'll check the alternator.

I'm currently reading other posts right now hoping to find a solution. plus my gas mileage is very bad any ideas?

The first thing that should always be checked when you have running problems is the MAF connection. It's easy to do and seems to solve more than its share of issues.Do you have a lot of black smoke out the exhaust?

no visible black smoke just some white smoke when the engine is cold.

fyi: i passed my smog inspection with flying colors *i think*. took only 5 minutes or less compared to my first time
