low idle and engine shakes help!!!!!

my car idles right when is on but i soon as i hit them gas pedal it chokes and it backfires i could drive the car but i have to hit the gas lightly or it stops i think it migt be a fuel problem because months ago it did the same thing but it didnt start just cranked.... if somebody knoes what could be the problems please let me know thanks. 1991 240sx Ka24De

I thought i fixed the problem i cleaned my mafs and my throttle body and my car started .but then after 3 weeks it gave me problems again it starts but it idles high and i cant punch the gas pedal because it will choke and back fires from the intake.......do u guys think it that i need to replace my mafs??? anybody that had a similar problem and could help me out i will be very thankful........ .....1991 fastback....Ka24de

For it to backfire up the intake the engine is firing when the intake valves are open, check your timing and if you removed timing chain or cams look into the installation of those, hopefully you'll fix yo baby soon!!

yeah definitely timiing..but for the pressing the gas and having it choke, i had an 88 celica that did that and it turned out to be the maf...so i would check that out..pretty sure its the culprit

well i cleaned my mafs and my (pair valve) and trottle and still shakes violently.....and it idles low oh and i got code #12 ....which is my mafs i cant seem to find the problem someone told me it could be a air leak on cat....but i whent to a muffler shop and told me it was miss firing....im gonna try and clean all my other sensors and valvels and see what i could find hope this information help u guys notice what could be the problem on my car ...thanks for ur help...........1991 240sx KAde24

have you tried testing the maf? or even just something simple like swapping a known working one and seeing what happens?

yeah i just tested my car for trouble codes and found out that my mafs and knock sensor are not working properly......so they told me by replacing the 2 sensors it should fix my problem do u guys know were i could find a knock sensor ??? thanks for all your help........
