Im having a issue with my quest. It runs out of gas when it says it still has fuel. The low fuel light is not even on yet. The first time I ran out of gas I had to push it to a flat surface to start it. I read somewhere that after putting chea p gas(cuz its watered down). The water starts to collect at the bottom of the tank little by little(cuz water is heavier than gas). Therefor the van still thinks it has fuel and thus causing it not to start on a hill. Any input would be very appreciated. :chuckle:

Chances are very likely that is NOT a problem with water, cheap gas causes other issues. How you can tell there is fuel in your tank is fairly simple. You have a floater in the tank and as it goes up and down over the years the contacts on the sender will start to wear and damage. Only way to tell is taking it out and verifying you have a faulty fuel sending unit. Hope that helps.

So I gotta remove the gas tank and replace the sender sounds like the most common thing huh? Thanks I wasnt sure if it was built in to the gas pump. I might as well buy one and replace it and see how it goes.

you could just use your trip odometer and gauge how many miles before you need a fillup

20 gallon tank times ~15 mpg on the conservative side ~ 300 miles

so just start thinking about fueling up at about 260 miles

ps since you ran out of fuel so many times, you're shortening the fuel pump's life

fuel acts also as a coolant for your in-tank pump

pps you're probably going to prematurely clog up that fuel filter as well since sediment does find it's way to the bottom of the tank over time, so change that out as well
