anyone ever find a way to test one besides running low on gas? I would like to make sure mine works. Has anyone run low enough to light it and then fill up? How much did it hold, how much and how close to dry is it when it comes on? I have 1991 d21 has 16 gallon tank or 15.8 or some such stuff. I may just put a can in the back and drive until it comes on or runs out LOL

The one on my old 87 worked before, but then I let it warm up before work one time and it ran out of gas without ever coming on.

wish i had the low fuel light, but my rig doesnt have it. I did run out of fuel the other day and it was not pleasant. but i am glad that it happened so i know when i have to worry on the gas gauge.

Guess my best bet is to put some gas in a can and drive until it comes on or runs out LOL fill it with can and then gas up

If its fuel injected some need a minimum amout of fuel before they start back up. I would take a gas can that has more than a 1 gallon capasity.

I was planning on 5 gallons and driving on a road here with many stations when traffic is light, so I can make it to station if it sputters if not pull over at first sign and drop in 5 gallons then fill up to see how much of the 16 gallons was gone if light does work just ease into station fill and subtract what it holds from 16 to see how much is in reserve
