wow took me an hour to post up on here...long story but about 30minutes of that involved searching.
the low fuel display stopped...well displaying.
i grabbed a couple of them at the junkyard. but it does'nt seem to work.
also i jumped the wire to see if anything will happen...but nothing.

you guys have any idea what could be the issue?

anything can go wrong on a 19 year old car.....not worth worrying about with so many other things that will require time and money to keep the car in reasonable condition, plus a smart Q owner never lets fuel level to drop below 1/4 anyway to prolong fuel pump life.

Qship is right about not letting the fuel get less than 1/4 full. And when I bought my car I tested nearly everything to find out what worked and didn't. The first time I let the tank get as low as possible on fuel and I brought a gallon with me just in case. "LOW FUEL" showed up on the Diagnostic Display. The second time I had no choice so I was less than 1/4 full hell I was really low on fuel but the "LOW FUEL" never showed up on the Diagnostic Display.

Check the sensor part of the fuel pump sending unit and the Fuel Pump Control Unit. If those prove to be fine which I bet not then look at the Diagnostic Display its self and ground the pin responsible for the "LOW FUEL" Display.

See the service manual for more help: Nicoclub.com/FSM

And yes search really sucks for now but this Forum was recently upgraded so I am sure it will be corrected.

thanks guys.
the only reason why i didn't fill her up because my buddy stripped 1/2 the screws and did'nt put the seal on. so if i had more than 1/2 a tank the gas would spill out and there would be smell too.
i hate to start an argument here but umm...i looked at how the pump is sitting and in order to keep this baby cooled your gonna have to have at least more than a 1/2 tank. otherwise i seen some goofy device on top of the pump...looks like something that may let some fuel on top of the pump...but i move on.

so your saying the fuel pump computer has something to do with the low fuel sensor?
i cause i grounded the wire on the fuel pump assembly itself...still no low fuel light. i think i'm gonna take a look at it in my fsm tonight.

I actually agree with you but most say 1/4 way full or more so it caught on. I remember when Brian AKA Maxnix said to keep the tank 1/2 full to keep the pump cool. I have no idea why it changed to 1/4 full.

The Fuel Pump Control Unit relay what the sensor read too the Diagnostic Display. And the service manual says it has to be tested....

When you say you grounded the fuel pump do you mean you grounded it as a way to make it run at full speed to get home (By pass the FPCU)?
Because according to the service manual you must connect a bulb inline along with connecting wires to the two pins on the fuel pump (Blue) connector. Look at the service manual for more info....

no. i grounded the low fuel wire to the base of the fuel pump assembly.
as for my friend uh he doesn't touch her anymore.
he just sits and drool at the car, lol.
i think it's cool that the fuel pump computer works like that.
