I finally got my CA18 running properly and everything seems good except one thing, the car has no bottom end what so ever. I am pretty sure something isnt working properly because before 4K rpm the car seriously does not move at all. I know the turbo kicks in around 4K amd the low end isnt great on a CA18 but this is seriously bad. The car does have a 2.5" down pipe and 3" exhaust but the stock cat hasnt been gutted yet and I doubt it could make my low end this bad. The only thing I can think of is the butter fly in the intake manifold is stuck wide open.

Do you guys have any ideas or know of any possible problems??? Thx

The motor has crap for low end. I was happy when I put a KA back in.

I even had the butterflies on my CA set open all the time and it still didnt help much, but it made throttle responce a bit better.

To check to see if the butterflies are opening, with the car on go pop the hood and find the big solenoid on the back of the intake manifold. Once you find it, keep your eyes on the little arm and rev the motor a bit. You will see if its moving or not when you rev it up.

There could be few things that could cause itone what Nismo mentioned.second you should do a compression and leak down test on your engine, if the compression is bad, the turbo will take a while before it boosts.check for vacuum line on the turbo, I have seen it where if you T-connect the vaccum line of the turbo to something else, it will reduce the vacuum on the turbo thus making it take a while to kick in, make sure that the vaccum line of the turbo isnt shared with any thing else, check your intercooler piping or the intercooler might have a leak

good luck,

Also check your ecu for codes. I had the knock sensor code when I first ran mine and I had next nothing for low end.

What turbo are you using and is your timing set at 15*BTDC?

check the timming bet its off. butterflys not being hooked up wont make much of a noticable differance i know this for a fact, but retarded timming will make the car boggy down low and restricted up high.

ps.

float, i was sober this time and i caught that teradactyl out of the corner of my eye again!! but this time i saw the space ship layin eggs rigth after.. i can only imagine if i was wasted when i saw it again

Finally someone said something about checking the timing! I bet is it WAY retarded if you have no noticable low-end.

BTW... Jon, time to lay off the model glue. Spaceships don't lay eggs. They give live birth....

That explains it..... Those guys are super weird. Is it just me or does that guy remind you of Buffalo Bill from Silence of the Lambs?

"... it puts the lotion on it's skin or it gets the hose again...."

Geez, that guy is messed up.
