so i just did my hg change i had the timing off no valve interfance so it started but was off.. and sounded bad , finally got it together and im getting bad compression according to my mechanic! but it did start before? when i had the timing off ? is there anyway ic an get better compression by putting oil or something in the spark plug whole? but also my water pump belt is extreamyl tight and i think that could be a problem and i migth have made the crank pully to tight i sued an air gun what were the specs for it? i searched around.. would haveing my oil pump not working right mess up the compression idk if i put the gaskets on right but .. it was on also how can i tell if i have leaks by the headgasket or a warped head?

im beyond confused but takeing it all apart tom.. i had no valve interference at all either .. before cranking so is there anyway to find out why i have low compression before takeing it all back apart . thanks

A: your mechanic know how to do a leak down test? If not find another mechanic. That will tell you why your compression is low.
B: you should have known if your head was warped BEFORE you put everything back together. you have to take the head off and put a straight edge on it to see if its warped and check its ”out of flat” with a feeler gauge.
C: ”bad compression” what does they mean? Across all cylinders? Just 1 or 2 cylinders? If its only a couple, your looking at bad valves (which the head should have been leak tested) or bad hg. If its across the board low numbers, its an engine timing issue, which a leak down test will tell you which cam is not in the correct position. (air will spew out of rather the intake manifold or exhaust manifold)
Sounds to my like a lot of steps were skipped.

the head wasnt warped the first time and i had it all cleaned up , it did start when it was untimed i got it timed right now mechanic said it was fine and was timed right he did the compression test and i think he just stopped there the numbers were bad accross all the cylinders 4 being the worst , if that im thinking my valves are bent from when i first timed it but i had "NO Valve interference" at all when turning the crank by hand , im gonna find out today see what happens ill prob take it apart check everything or get a new head is what im thinking and get it all machined while i see whats up with this

well i got heer started! idiot mechanic! didnt even adjust the dizzy whata goof -_- just need adjust it it runs but then turns off im thinking its the dizzy cuz it finally started, i let it run all the smoke is gonee ! drove it around the block she has power!! but turns off when i dont rev it a bit , so im guessing i got good compression now i did try to push start it before and then i thought about adjusting the dizzy and bam started ! revs up no more smoke out the engine bay.. but still stalls on me i got a guy to adjust my timing so it should be right ? i think its the dizzy?

I would check my cam timing too if it stalls. Then worry about the dizzy timing and also if your messing with the ignition timing, it would be better if your doing it with a timing light.

Hey man my de was idling then shutting right off and then when I put the clutch down it would idle but as soon as you let up it stalled. The way me and a friends dad fixed it was we found out the dizzy was 180 out and put the plugs 4-1 3-2 and it fired and is now running so I'd say make sure the rotor is on point with number one on the cap when at tdc
