Hi,

I recently ran a compression test on my VG30DETT and was surprised when the left bank (driver side) cylinders ALL read 110 PSI! The right side bank read a health 120 PSI in each cylinder which is confusing since the engine seems to run normal other than the occasional white smoke from the tail pipe especially after it has been sitting for a long time. Could I have a blown head gasket? I haven't done the timing belt ever, and the motor has 170K miles on it so could that affect compression?
Any suggestions.

Are the numbers done with a cold engine? Those numbers look like a worn down engine. I think minimum is something like 128psi for a TT. You are one lucky SOB if you’ve never done a timing belt change at 170K miles.

I did a compression test on a cold motor.

When I got it it had around 125k miles on it. I was told it had a timing belt maintenance done once before.

Could it be a bad timing belt tensioner? Maybe a stretched belt?
