Well, what I would do is buy Greddy E-Manage and the Profec-e01. That will cost roughly $900. Then, I would buy a turbo back exhaust and an intake. Or, if you wanted to save all of your money, get $2000 more and buy http://web.norrisdesigns.com 270 ps kit.

where are u know (with mods) i see u already have a filter...what else...that will help us make recommendations...but like the person above said a full exhaust (turbo back) always helps a turbo car (o2 dump, downpipe, and cat back)....also maybe a more effiecient intercooler (aftermarket sidemount or maybe a front mount)...and sum sort of tuning tool (s-afc, emanage, maybe even standalone)

those are my recommendations...good luck

What kind of student are you?I'd suggest different stuff to an EE student or any engineering student than I would to a high schooler or a grad student.

ALWAYS on a turbo car the best first and 2nd mods are intake and exhaust. That looks like a HKS filter, and your future goals would tell us what size exhaust to go with (2.5 at the min though). Its usually cheaper to get someone locally to fab an exhaust than to buy one, but you'd have to find someone who'd circumvent the laws to get the most bang-for-the-buck.About $800-1000. Unless you can weld...

Spend $50 on a manual boost controler.

Fuel controller. lets say $250 SAFC to $400 all parts of an emanage

Then you'll need a clutch...

And that'll about do it, if you can install all this by yourself... If your paying labor to install, you'd probally have to skip the fuel computer...

Walbro Fuel Pump - $100

Either SAFC2 ($300) or have JWT chip/tune your ecu ($500) http://www.jgycustoms.com/240sx/ecu.htm

Megan Racing 3in Stainless Catback - $300

Fuel Pressuer Regulator - $100

3in Downpipe - $100

pick one option

Option 1GReddy VSPL FMIC Kit - $700DSM injectors used - $150

Option 2Used VLSD (idk if you have one or not) - $300s14 or s15 SR turbo in decent used condition - $500manual boost controller - $100

i'm a college student and my major is mechanical engineering.I just got the car so i didn't work on it yet but it came with only a turbo timer and a intake and some 17' alu rims every thing else is stock.

But hope fully their are some good sites out their that sell affordable mods so that i could get good hp for 2k. but i need help with what is the best combination of mods for the most hp change in my price range.

thanx for replying to my post

There's no reason to get bigger injectors for the stock turbo. To get another 65 whp out of the motor, you should get the following:

-megan racing downpipe, or used downpipe-$90-test pipe-$50 soooo overpriced. better to make your own.-catback-megan racing is cheapest~$300 you may be able to get a turbo back system for about $500 that includes a better o2 pipe, that's a pretty good bargain.-eprom chip-jc performance~$50 optional but a good idea and cheap power-joe p mbc-$40 I highly recommend-front mount intercooler. since you're an me major, make your own pipes and get a decent core like one from precision turbo. use stainless steel or aluminum, not regular steel (even if you paint it'll rust on inside, unless you galvanize it). this will be about 200-400 for a decent core and $100-150 at most for piping.

That adds up to about $1300 give or take. Getting significantly more power after this will cost substantially more, as one item depends on another, so you may as well wait on more upgrades for a while.

Is their any where i can get an exhaust without a catylitic converter because in the Bahamas open exhausts are legal since we don't have any emission laws. I think having no catylitic converter should give me more hp. Right or wrong?

That is all.

Yes and no. A test pipe will make the same power as a nice high flow cat. However, cats are like 2x more expensive... And a test pipe will make more power than the stock cat.

Something you might want to look into is MegaSquirt http://www.megasquirt.info - for about the price of an emanage, you can get a full standalone, as long as you can solder.

Don't forget the proper maintenance! Fluch all fluids and make for damn sure that the motor is 100%. Change sensors that need replacing (O2, MAF, etc) and get a compression test. Then yes, I/E is a good place to start. Mabye look for an SR turbo. Mgmt is nice, but I am running stock tune with my SR T25G and full 3". Boost creeps to 11psi on cold days and hard runs, but the car seems to love it. Also: DO NOT FORGET GAGES> Boost, water temp, and EGT are a good place to start. I have autometer Pro-Comp Ultra-lites on the way (brushed aluminum face and bezel). Easiest way to not break something is to know what is happening to your motor at all times. Also a turbo timer is cheap and can greatly increase the life of that little turbo.

Also, get a BOV and recurricluate it. Turbos hate pressure surge and being a thrust bearing turbo, it won't live long over 7psi w/o a way to vent the extra boost.

Here is JC Performance's e-mail. Ask them for a price and tell them what you have. They will make suggestions, I would listen to them.

Don't bother with megasquirt, the current system requires a distributor driven ignition system. Plus it's not for the average DIYer.

No it doesn't. You can run ford edis or gm hei. People have also gotten the mitsubishi dis system to work.
