Rather than dropping $140 for the Stillen bar, I took Jeff Williams' advice and bought a 2000+ Maxima bar off eBay for $7.99. (Cheap basturd.:D)

Looks solid, good quality (for the $$) - Took an hour to make the two modifications necesary to install on the Q.

What a difference! First thing I notice is crisper steering input... Used to be able to jiggle the steering wheel 2" eithr way and have the car barely respond - Now the first 1-2" of steering wheel movment actually DOES something. Second thing I notice is less understeer, easier throttle-on oversteer. Third thing I notice: You guessed it - It's BARELY touching the plenum under hard cornering. I'm reluctant to grind on it, so I'm considering fabricating all-new "feet" for it to gain more clearance.

I'm gonna let it rub until then since I'm enjoying the newfound stability and "feel".

Dennis, do I need to "pre-load" the STB somehow? If so, in which direction?

Hi!

My usual dumb questions: how do you pre-load an STB? Put a load on one front end of the car and then tighten the bolts?

Maybe you need to have someone (who ideally weighs the same as you) sit in the driver seat while you tighten the bolts! :D

Wes - I'll let Jeff Williams respond - He's the mastermind behind this one. If he doesn't, email me with your # and I'll call & walk you through it.

The mods are simple, and, like Fred said, less than an hour. I have posted several pics on other Forums, but I iwll post a few pics for you here.

First, This is the brace right out of the box, as it came for my 2000 I30 (Right Side):

Got to the post for "Front Strut bar for 00 I30" I have posted some pics there, to see the mods I had to do for the Q.

If you want, I can send you all my pics in an email.
