lol ...you're a believer now Matt? Now if I could just let the real Bose hater take a listen...(poormanQ45)

I should mention that adding subs is not a low budget fix...I still might replace my mids/tweets with aftermarket Infinity speakers. O R I might go all out...would be nice to get sponsored

Thanks for the thread link...Some good info on here... Anyone here has had experience with the new 2007/8 Infiniti/Bose Studio on Wheels - improving the "muddy" sound from the rear mid speakers?

This new system is pretty good [3way component speakers in front are good enough for me]... not bad, but not great when it comes to some mid and high sounds. I want to change the rear 6.5 mids -2ohms i think.Has anyone looked into this? Thanks for the help in advance! R

I ve been researching on improving the sound system in my 2008 G35 for the past month.here is my input..I am an audiophile and an home audio addict.I know I am crazy, but my home system is getting real close to 100k.so I do know a little bit about nice clean sound.I did buy my vehicle with the bose system(big big mistake),because I want to invest into an after market system. The 07 and 08 G35 do not have a kit and it will run you alot.I mean alot(1-2k for labor) to modify the whole dash board and move all the controllers around to fit a double din after market in the dash. I chose to stick with my stock head unit and add an $$$ after market amplifier and $$$$ component speakers. The system do sound better, but to my ear.I am not there yet.after somemore researh.I found out that the stock unit have a preset frequency that limited the potential of the sound quality on the after market amplifier.in order to solve this problem.you need to purchase a unit call (JL clean sweep to add gain to the signal to the after market amplifier for sound quality)another better one is the RF3sixty.2($400) that go between your head unit and your after market amplifier. This unit not only neutralize the preset frequency in your head unit, but also allow you to adjust all frequency with a laptop or palm pilot..to make a long story short.this JL clean sweep or the RF3sixty2 is an option for you to turn your stock unit to a high-end after market unit...There is an article in stereophile magazine about the 07-08 bose system.I wish I read that article before purchasing my G.it would save me alot of time and money.I went back to the infiniti dealer and listen to the new bose system..all I can say is WOW..WOW..WOW..if anyone planning to buy a new G35 with a nice sound system.do yourself a big favor..just order the car with the upgrade Bose system....that's my 02 cents

I am an advocate and always will be to modify car audio to aftermarket whenver possible.

new deck, new speakers in the doors and subs in the back, 4 channel amp + Monoblock amp for the subs with big wire

it takes time and money but its incomparible. I hate the BOSE upgrade that i had in my car

ALPINE, JL Audio, Hertz, Audison...reputable and good qualityMTX makes big/loud amps which are a good cost/quality comboi love my Xtant subs, don't think you can get them anymore though

I am the same way.I ve alway upgrade to an after market audio system since the 80s.I hate bose and would never ever spend a dime on any bose stuff, but after reading the article about the bose system in the stereophile magazine.it sound too good to be true.after listening to the bose system.it shock the hell out of me and I am willing to switch all my mcintosh amp and seas lotus system for the bose system in a heartbeat...remember guy..this bose system is only in the newer G35..

Thanks for the reply...Actually, I do have the Bose system... and after reading the Stereophile magazine's write-up on the system:http://www.stereophile.com/news/071706infiniti/

I agree with it in that it sounds great [clear], but it is the soundstaging that I don't like so much... In this article, they sample a jazz quintet* - and it sounded phenomenal... but I'm not sure it sounds so good with other types of music. - I don't usually listen to jazz

But anyways, don't get me wrong, the system is not bad... just not great for some of the music other than instrumentals...

Hey,

I've never seen a setup like that, I like it. I didn't want to replace the stock radio because I like the overall look. Your way is a good way around that. Nice.

I replaced my front Bose speakers with Alpine 6.5" type R. What I am wondering is how some of you made a perfect match for the stock speaker hole?

I ended up having drill a few holes for screws and my 6.5" speakers dont even cover the opening that the Bose speakers were using!

Also, I notice a severe drop in bass coming from the front... this is probably due to the fact that the front and the back of the speakers are no longer isolated.

If anyone can give me tips on how to make a mount for my front speakers to fill the hole I'd appreciate it!

Joe, where did you get that box of yours?

Thanks,

David

I should also note, that using speaker level inputs off the Bose headunit into my Infinity after-market amplifier has left me with quite a ground loop problem. The only solution I have found is to limit the input coming from the Bose unit... This still didn't eliminate the hiss I hear out of my speakers :-/

Okay Gang,

I just bought my 1st Infiniti yesterday, G35 sedan. Very nice car, very well maintained, at a VERY nice price! I just need more kick from the base?! Can I add an amp and speakers that I have without major mods? I can install most stereos with little problems but there seems to be a lot more going on in this car? Can I just run a new power cable to the trunk for the new amp and use the leads for the existing sub? Is there a better way? I have been reading a lot of your posts this afternoon (I love my AGR job!) and you guys know your stuff for sure! Would appreciate any and all info that you guys can give me!

I did not want to have to deal with trying to mount the crossovers that come with components. But i did replace the tweeters with a older set of JBL GTO tweeters, the stock tweeters state that they are 4-ohm on the back. Overall the system now has a nice tight bass response and the highs are much crisper. I think total I spent $111 on both pairs of spearkers and another $45 for two sets of zenclosures speakers. the JBL speakers also come with apadpter plates that would have probably worked also with the addition of a universal spacer ring. but i didn't know they would come with those.

I was curious about what sizes speakers you used on the doors of your sedan when you replaced your door speakers? I've tried to find exactly what the sizes are but no luck, different websites have different sizes. I would have taken the door panel off and measure myself, but I plan on taking off the panels only once.

Thanks.

Crutchfield has a pretty good database of speaker sizes.
