Ford 351W with Pro Comp (chinese) aluminum heads. If you look locally, like on Craigslist, you can get a decent 351W for $150 or so. New bearings, rings, pistons, timing chain and the short block is done. Add intake and carb with those cheap alum heads and you can build it for under $2000 and have 500hp and almost as much torque. Add whatever manual trans you want or C4 auto or 4R70W auto if you want overdrive and computer adjustable shifts. That's what I'd do.

well neither of them are easy, the vg and the rb's both need custom mounts not to mention the q45 never came in a manual transmission so that will be a pain, but it can be done.

I think you may be mature enough for an Altima, but I think you may have a while to go on the Q45.

converting anything from auto to manual is more of a hassle than a pain. I have a theory about the VH/VG crossmembers, I believe they interchange but this theory is only based on the fact that their rack and pinions are the same.

Hassle yes, expensive yes

There was a guy on here offering to make the adapter plate needed for 800, not sure if the offer still stands.

Why would you go from a 4.5 litre engine with gobs of torque to a 2 litre engine, with much harder to come by parts? Does not compute. I get the fact that RB have better aftermarket and stuff, and turbo is easier to uprade powerwise, but still. It seems you will be quite limited by the RB20. Maybe RB25, or go all out with an RB26. I wholly support the idea of the VG30DETT though Why not piece together your own turbo setup, and convert it to 5 speed using the z32 transmission?

I dont think a 6 cylinder Turbo charged engine would be much defference than its 8cyl engine.. the aristo and cefiro do just fine. and weigh about the same.. These engines having much aftermarket support HP gaines will be easily made.. plus the stock Q engines dont come no more than280hp.. wich is as much as a stock 1j.. i think the power would be a smoother rise in rpms being 6cyl-T but that is opinion...

thanks for those who helped.. im trying to keep it nissan. but a 1j is convincing.. but i would love that vg30dett engine and trans..i think this wouild be the best swap.. its a big 3.0 6-tt ... bang for the buck

I was just questioning why the RB20 vs the RB25 or RB26. I realize that the there is a major difference in price, but it just seems the RB20 would be too underpowered for such a big car. 1JZ would be sick.
