Looking nice, however I'd move that dump tube back a little bit, your most likely going to melt that steering boot.

Its not as close as it looks, just the angle the picture was taken at.. plus the dumptube rotates on the v-band flange, so its not angled correctly either, just put it up there loosely for visualization

And if anyone notices the lug nut welded on the downpipe, that is for an extra bracket i have coming off the bellhousing bolts on the transmission to help relieve the moment generated by the weight of the exhaust piping. Not that i think the bends will crack.... I also have a bracket from the trans mount to the test pipe.

Believe me, it is hard as crap to snake that downpipe in the engine bay... I have to put it in from the top and can't have the manifold in yet before i do so.

Looks decent. That's an assload of welding! Good thing you have the hook up!

What are the rubber hoses on the fame rail by the wastegate? Might want to give them some heat protection. Maybe the power steering low-pressure line as well.

Most likely will not have.

Your going to need to go through Summit or Jegs. I got some DEI 2000 degree **** that covers lines.

I don't think that conduit would insulate it very well.

I went to O'Reilly's for the heat wrap on my turbo oil and coolant lines. They just ordered it for me and I got it as cheap as going thru Jegs or Summit at the time. Shocking I know. DEI was the brand name like Shocker said.

Don't use metal to insulate from heat, its tough to think of a more inappropriate insulator. Heat shield yes, but wrapped around wires no.

Nice frankenpipe!

I know i should... but i'm so tired of welding... i jsut give up... but if i can't get it in and out with the manifold on then i'll probably look into a v-band type deal or something.

I called napa and pep boys and advanced nobody knows where to get that thermo sleeve from. Could i use header wrap and run zip ties every 5" or so?

You may find that thermal stuff at a hydraulic line place too. Summit and jegs has it.

Buy this stuff ya cheap a$$! And you don't have to get the expensive velcro fastening type like shown below, but you get the idea.

I just bought some 2000 deg thermal insulation tape from napa for $19.XX gunna spiral wrap the hoses and parts of the downpipe. 15 ft by 1.5 inches

I also got a compression to AN fitting to adapt a banjo off the stock oil feed to the stainless oil line.

hey man, everything looks great. i know all about how much fun building a downpipe can be. what size pipe is that you are useing, if you ever have to redo it you should look into using oval piping, it was crazy how much i could get in there. i used a full 3.5. yours may be that big i cannot tell but it looks good and great to see the car comming together

Is that pipe 3.5" flattened out? Or is it advertized to flow as well as 3.5? Because flattened 3.5 does not flow the same CFM as a round 3.5" pipe.

it is the exact flow as 3.5 round it is burns stainless oval piping. it is meant to get full flow out of areas that you cant get regular piping in there, there are other people that make it other than burns but i know there quality is second to none

Yup, guys with really slammed vehicles use them to tuck up better along their frame rails.

Good to see NAPA carries something as well.

I have to send the f*cking lovefab manifold back now

a runner hits the block bad, and hits the oil feed adapter.

God Dam It.

That sucks!

How did you manage to build a downpipe and not figure out it didn't fit the motor right?

Damn! Keep us updated. Sorry to hear that man. Does this mean that you'd going to have to adjust the downpipe since the manifold might be tweaked a little to fix it?

the flange doesnt meet the head by 1mm, so i think the dp is fine... i called lovefab and they're gunna reweld runner #4 from the front. it his block and oil banjo, so hopefully afterthat it will be fine. im pretty disappointed, more stupid delays from this effin manifold.

i also can't put fasteners on 3 of the 12 boltholes, that includes not being able to tighten them either, (no tool)

i kinda wish i did get a 6boost, but when its all done, i'll be happy.
