so i finally took the plunge and bought the 08 coupe with 6mt after driving my 95 mazda millenia s near to its death....

I've been frequenting this forum for a while and it seems like there's people here that know what theyre talking about. I have one major concern as of now - the stock 2.5 S wheels (not the hubcaps but teh actual 16"rims), and how damn ugly they are!

What is the maximum size rims i could get for my 08 coupe without having to do any lowering? i figured 17" would be the optimal since thats what the 3.5 comes with but i'm not sure....

would getting 18" rims require dropping my car? and if so, could this be done simply with those pro kit springs or do i need a camber kit?

i could really use all of your help here - i'm a newb when it comes to cars, only 22 years old and i finally saved up enough money to buy something nice - really haven;t had the opportunity to work on my past car so this will be my first tinker toy, though i want to feel like i know what i'm doing before starting to do anything. Thanks for any help in advance!

as long as you keep your tire diameter to stock specs, you can go as big as 20s. To drop or not is a personal preference as the bigger wheels tend to make gap look bigger while in fact it is still the same.

Use the search function and look up WHEELS RIMS DROP LOWERING PRO KIT words, etc.

Personally 18s with the Pro Kit would be the best way to go...no camber kit necessary. 20s will give you a very, very stiff ride. 19s are impractical due to tire and rim cost/availability.

Otherwise, the search function will get you more info.

And congratulations on your purchase.

sweet.... i always wanted to lower the car a little and get some 18's... so there shouldnt be a problem with camber if i do go that way?

edit: i need to know all this since my car is brand new (~500miles) and i dont really have much money to blow on repairs thats why i need to know i'm not gonna something that will f*ck up the rest of my ride
