out of all the forums I've been to, this forums has to be the most disorganized. Can't someone organize it a little better? For example, Off of the "Altima Coupe Forum / Sedan Forum" there should be categories. IMHO, I think it should be separated. So if there was an altima coupe forum, there should be sub-categories like newbies, general, wheels/tires, performance, exterior mods, interior mods, stereo/electronics mods, picture gallery, etc. Instead, everything is posted into one category and moshed together. For the sedan, sub categories should exist by years or even generations. Acurazine.com separates the TL classes via 1st, 2nd, 3rd,& 4th generation TL.FJCruiserforums.com has an excellent and well organized site that is very easy to use and members can find what they're looking for in one easy search of the categories.

And the search function, forget it. I can see the reason why a lot of questions are being posted 2,3,4,5 times and members being annoyed that someone is posting the same question again. The search function is horrible! It searches the whole Nicoclub.com! Why can't there be a field that searches only within the specified topic. For example, If someone wanted to search any threads pertaining to wheels, the search function should provide them with the search criteria field (which it does) but also allow the user to search within the respective category or sub-category. ie. Altima Coupe forum > wheels/Tires. (which it doesn't) Instead you get to choose from recent or archived content. or members just scroll thru the pages and if they don't see what they are looking for, they post the question. I know that there are some people out there who doesn't like using the search function and should be bashed if they are posting a question that was recently asked. But what can you do, there's idiots everywhere, and we shouldn't under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers.

Lastly, I think there should be a preview button next to the post button so we can see how the thread will look before it is posted.

Remember, I'm not bashing the site what so ever! I love the site and love the contributions by the members. I'm just merely offering suggestions that will make this site more enjoyable and easy to use, but in the same time more efficient for other members to search and find things. Also, I don't claim to be a forum guru. Infact, I'm not quite sure what it takes to start up one of these sites. Perhaps since this is a child category of the parent category (Nicoclub.com) and the limitations are merely passed down. s

I can understand your frustration. It has been brought up that it may be necessary in a few of the higher traffic forums that sub-forums within them should exist.

Clicking the search button above allows you to choose a drop down menu to search within the forum section you specify. Don't search in the Google box to the right.

Since the Altima Coupe came along, traffic here in the Altima forum has increased 10 fold. I will bring up some recommendations on splitting our forum up a little bit. Your not the first person to mention this.

I love to hear recommendations or requests. This is YOUR forum. We are here for everyone.

organization is a must. but what should happen is the first gen gets a subforum, 2nd gen, 3rd, 4th gen too. the coupe and the sedan have to stay together!! (dont do what the other forum did, since the makority over there was sedans, no one even goes to the coupe section, and if you guys split it here, no one will go to the sedan section) and the search button is horrible, but there isnt much you can doo about that, most forums use vBadvanced which is ten times better and more user freindly, this forum uses ZeroForum and its configuration is alot different

All three are a must for sure. Altima Coupe/Sedan is the only Forum I visit/read on NICO, so I definitely want a...

General and Altima Coupe, would prefer Regional (like Canada East/West like ClubRSX) but there's clearly not enough. ClubRSX back in '02 when it came out also started with just General too.

But think of all the help and info we get from guys like Generic? He has contributed a lot for us coupe-heads and he owns a sedan! If the forum were separated, we'd have to navigate back and forth; a lot of the same info would be put on both sides.

I like having all Altima owners under one roof, myself.

We are actually discussing sub-forums as it is so there may be some changes at some point in the near future. Unfortunately, whatever we do, some members won't like it regardless.

As far as the search feature, it's part of the forum software and there is probably not much we can do about it. Before harping on our "cheap" software, the top two automotive forums (VWvortex and Honda-tech) use the same as we do. You just have to learn how to use the search function and it can work out relatively well.

I think leaving Sedan/Coupe together is fine, cuz there are a few things they do have in common. Separating by topic categories such as Exterior mods, Interior mods, troubleshooting or watever would make things easier to navigate and reduce search results

no way! plz don't seperate us from the altima sedans. we'd be missing on too much knowledge and cool people!

just a general subforum would be enough

Altima forums:-General talk-Altima related talk

as we grow bigger then we'll see about other sub forums. I don't want this forum to end up as fragmented as altima-tech's forum

I personally think sepearting the coupe from the sedan is a bad idea. But, it's up to the powers that be to decide the fate of this forum. I'm just a peon in this whole thing

Everyone should realize one thing, NICO itself is a whole community for Nissan Enthusiasts. Information for one model can be transposed across multiple vehicles as well and adding seperate sub-forums will generally cause replication of information across multiple forums. Being a non-vehicle specific site (no major "car islands") has been good and quite successful as it allows different points of view to be cross-posted between members/NICO sub-forums. Stepping away from what has been successful and made NICO more of a "nissan family" is a huge step.

I like having both platforms on one forum. I just ditched one of my Triumph Bonneville forums because they separated the standard Bonneville and the cruiser line (all share the same motor). It was split from one into three separate forums and I grew weary of checking all three for relevant info. Plus traffic dropped way off with the split.

Keeping the coupe and sedan within the same forum is fine. However, it would be nice to have sub-categories underneath that forum for interior mods, exterior mods, performance, stereo/electronics, wheels/tires, etc. That way everyone, no matter if you own the sedan or the coupe, can gather info from one section and not through two. I can see how frustrating it would be if one had to go to two forums to get what they need.

As far as parts/accessories are concerned for the two different models, Tyler posted sticky's up top with that info.

As far as performance mods, the sedan and coupe share the same motors so the mods would be the same for both cars. Same goes for the stereo/NAV/wheels/etc. They are basically the same vehicle with the exception of maybe the suspension components, and the amount of doors of course.
