Love the car, hate the problem(s)

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

I got my car on 1-29-09, so its not even 3 month yet.Love the car, but so far it seems like I have all the problem that EX "might" have.

Steering colum failed the day I drove it home from dealership. 2 weeks ago my fuel pump is making the noise mentioned in ITB. This morning a really bad rotten-egg smell coming from the battery and car was towed back to dealer. Now a seriously dead battery and alternator might be bad too...

I sympathize with your frustration the steering column motors where haunted and picked the worst time to die, as in your case.If your smell was coming from the battery that would be really interesting, a if the case on the battery was swollen or there was water coming out of the vent that would signify the a failure in one of the cells. Your alternator should be fine the system uses current monitoring and diodes to govern the flow of electrons, and the alternators on these cars are very reliable and can usually handle a beating (think about sitting in traffic in the rain with all the accessories) and the car doesn't react poorly (no headlight dimming or noise in the audio system).

Hopefully once these few annoyances are resolved you will begin to enjoy your EX, there is allot of focus on the negative here but there have to be some positives that EX owners experience.
