The gas cap. When I put gas in the car no matter what posistion I put the gun in & no matter how slow I begin, it spills gas back out. I have owned a ton of cars & as a college student worked at a full service gas station for two yrs (that was fun) This has never happened to me before. Once or twice ya sure, but everytime & at different stations? no way. I guess I'll have to just try different methods.

On a side note the all wheel drive is the bomb. I live in the country on back windy roads & drive 12 miles to a major highway & then drive about 20 miles to work. I was passing cars the other day & moving around some wanna be's I looked at the speedomoter & I was doing 101 without realizing it. That was a little scary. In the Rain? Like glue to the road. I'm in upstate NY so the Snow will be here soon & I'm interested to see how this "AttesaE-TS" aka "SnowMode"handles. My 0-60 is under 7 but I need to try it with my stop watch. I put the high test stuff in But I'm thinking of getting one of those after market Blowers to get more horsepower. With the all wheel drive that will really cook.

Zapp:

Glad you're enjoying your car! and welcome to our little club!.. Your problem is indeed an unususal one, I havent heard of before.

The only gascap related prob on G35's, I am currently aware of, is if they dont close right ,they sometimes set-off the check engine lights,For Sc kits there are a lot of them out there, some sold by our sponsors ( check the rotating banners here).

I am currently eyeing a few of them myself, for my 350Z, which as you know is very nearly a G35 Coupe.

Welcome to NICO WWZapp. Glad to hear that you love the car so much.

I can't say I have heard of your gas filling problem before. Interesting.

I would report that to a dealership. Not normal. It only happens when you begin fueling, not during?

Well I put some gas in today at the half tank mark & I started of dirt slow & let it go a little faster & faster. Only at the end did it spill just a bit when it was full. It's deffinitely strange. One time gas just came gushing back out about 6 to 8 oz. I wash it off each time with the window squeegie. I'm just worried that over time it's going to harm the paint around the cap area.

Maybe I will call the dealer, I thought There was a certain way to do it & there answer would be on here.

If I just stick the gun in & squeeze it full..gas bath! Itried this at 6 o'clock all the way up to 9 o'clock (gas gun posistion).

I read some of those speed stories & Blower stories & I don't think I will be adding oneof those blowers on, I don't want to ruin the engine for 60hp.

Sounds like there is something restricting gas flow. I would take the car to the dealer and have them take a look at it.

I have the same problem. Bought my g 35x a week ago. When I put the gas pump handle into the tank, the gas automatically stops filling within a few seconds, as if the tank was full (yet it is definitely not full). When I do this repeatedly, some gas pours out the tank and drips down the side of the car. Did you find out the cause of your problem? (I'm going to call the dealer but he'll likely think I'm nuts).

Have you checked out to see if there is a TSB out for the problem?

Couldn't find a technical service bulletin addressing that particular problem. Called the dealership. The rep spoke with some of the mechanics who are apparently familiar with the problem. The rep couldn't relay the exact details to me - something to do with the "cannister in the gas tank". Will see what it turns out to be when I take the car back in next week.

Took the car back to the dealership. They replaced the fuel tank assembly and the problem has now resolved. For reasons not entirely clear to me, the neck of the tank kept getting obstructed when the nozzle was inserted. Thus, the neck would instantly fill up with fuel, tricking the nozzle into thinking that the gas tank was full and causing it to automatically stop filling. At any rate, I'm glad the problem is over because I absolutely love everything else about this car. Thanks for your support.

Yep, there are some TSBs for this.Sometimes you can get away with the evap canister replaced (not purging air from the fuel fill up), sometimes the tank needs to be replaced.

I had the exact same problem and I had a whole new gas tank put on my 2005 coupe two months after I got it.

It is a faulty sensor in the neck of the gas tank that they were replacing the whole tank for until Infiniti found out it was the valve, which now since they are replacing so many the sensor is backordered.

you know this might sound funny but every shell station that ive been to always seems to stop the pump early. it'll stop like the tank is full. i have to keep pumping until gas comes out. same thing goes for my 240 at a shell station. and i go to different pumps at the same shell and ive been to other shell stations they all do that... chevron never did it, texaco, etc. its always shell i dont know why. and i dont like it when gas comes out cause that sensor will get messed up.

I've noticed the same thing about Shell stations.
