Hello guys
I'm looking for something to make my 3.5 CVT exhaust sound louder, will a Y pipe on stock exhaust make any difference? What about mufflers?

I don't want something that is expensive, I want it to be simple, not VERY loud (cop magnet) and doesn't cost more than $250..

Any ideas?

Local muffler shop. If you reuse your stock exhaust tips, a local muffler shop could probably put an exhaust system for that much

I paid $100 to have 2.5" piping from the cat, to the muffler (cat-back). I later paid like $160 to have the stock muffler replaced with a magnaflow muffler. I didn't buy exhaust tips because my brother gave me his quad tips. If you use the stock exhaust tips, you can get a cat-back exhaust for roughly $260 (depending on where you live)....... wait, you're in Dubai. do they have muffler shops over there for a decent price?

do a search for altima coupe ebay exhaust. some members got it and said it wasnt bad. it's a cheap exhaust from ebay.

There are many muffler shops, but the Altima Coupe is not a familiar car in here so they will probably be doing a trial and error process until they get it right, or mess up something else.. :nono:
I saw an ad for a shop that claims to have MagnaFlow exhaust systems for all cars, I went to him today and he said he doesn't have an exhaust system for my car :tisk:

I'll probably go for the ebay exhaust, but will this kind of exhaust system fail the car during the yearly registration and checkup? (emission wise)

It doesnt matter if it's for your car or not. the exhaust system on my altima coupe is for any car and I've had it for years without any problems. It's just a magnaflow muffler (not a full exhaust system) and then they have pipes in different diameters, a bending machine, and a welder. they cut and weld the pipes. American cars usually just go to muffler shops and have an exhaust system made. it's much cheaper and just as good.

exhaust has nothing to do with emissions. thats the cats. as long as you don't remove your cats, you wont change any emissions.

no problem. If you want to hear some of my exhaust clips (I have a custom exhaust), just type in quad exhaust altima coupe in youtube and my videos should come up

I've seen some of your videos before, the exhaust sounds really good!
does replacing the muffler only give you a better sound? what are the advantages and disadvantages of replacing the muffler only (axle-back)?

If you just change the muffler, you'll get a really nice sound. The only advantage to a cat-back vs a axel back is that a cat-back gives you more power (will make it a little bit louder too). I've tested many exhaust set-ups and i think i still hold the record for fastest altima coupe (except for the turbo ones and a guy with nitrous). The more free flow you have, the faster the car is... At a race track you will see better numbers with a cat-back. On the streets you wont feel a difference and a axel back will give you the sound you want

If you go for a name brand axle back system, its going to wind up still being pretty pricey. Here in the US, the Borla axle back is around 640, and the Tanabe axle back is around 550. Any muffler shop should be able to make you something that would be pretty cheap. I got a quote from a local shop near me for a custom built axle back system for around 300 with install. Good luck man.

Thanks for the heads up, but even a custom axle back would cost $900 in here.. So i guess im going to save for a Stillen or Borla axle back.

Go with a name brand is better imo. What if you pay a shop for a custom system and you end up not liking the sound?

Atleast with a name brand you have an idea on what you're getting.

Ya that's what i thought!
A stillen axle back would cost almost the same price with shipping!

Yes!! They take advantage of all the people here!
Apparently for them, custom made axle back is worth more than any branded one.
I will still look for other shops.. Hopefully i'll find one for a reasonable price..

Totally agree. I listened to some custom ones online, and I listened to some of the manufactured ones online, and... well... That's why the GReddy Spectrum Elite is currently en route to my house haha. I wish you the best of luck man. Keep us posted on what you decide.

Good find!
I think the top speed exhaust sounds realy good!
But the car in the video is a manual, my car has a CVT transmission so it will sound a bit different. How much did u buy the Greddy Ti-C for?

250 is a real tough price limit. I have a 2.5 and i had a local shop install a custom 3in catback stainless steel with generic mufflers for 375. One of the best sounding exhausts i've heard yet on a 2.5 though

it turned out that some shops in here charge a lot because they need to get a permission from the police department, Loud exhausts are not permissible here unless you get yours from a certified shop.. I don't know why is that, but at least I don't have to step gently on the gas whenever I see a police patrol! :rotfl

thanks....well thats the nice thing about living in georgia...they dont really care about how loud your exhaust is. There are a lot of old trucks and muscle cars that make my car sound as quite as a prius lmao

Yeah. Off GReddy's site. They had it 30 percent off. I got the Spectrum Elite because I'm going more stealth. Obviously not too stealth with blue tipped exhausts, but I'm trying to keep unwanted attention to a minimum. :P

I'm selling my stock exhaust by the way if anyone is interested. Its in the classifieds. PM me if you're interested. :)
