okay so i replaced the headgasket and i followed the fsm and some user posted information. afterwards when i started the car it makes a loud ticking sound from the head. i've had ticking lifters for a while but never this loud. the car starts up just fine and throttle response is good but the ticking just scares me so much. if needed i can post up a video. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sometimes it takes a little while for the lash adjusters to prime up.How long have you run the engine?

i was actually thinking it might be the lifters because i cleaned the head and i remembered that the lifters are hydraulically adjusted so maybe they're just full of air right now but im not sure so im trying to get some input before i do anything further.

You need to let it run for a while, it is going to take running it more than a few seconds for the adjusters to pump up .

There is a nico tutorial article about cleaning and re-assembling the ka24e lifters. Google "ka24e ticking lifters" and it should turn up.

yeah i know about that but this isnt really "normal" ticking. this is pretty damn loud so im just trying to figure this out before i try to do anything else.
