I know its coming from the front of the engine. A mechanic guessed lifters but he wasn't sure. I don't have low oil and theres no way that the timing chain can be that loud. Then again, I dont know what a loose chain sounds like. Ever since a couple days ago its been so loud its embarassing when I pull up next to other cars or pass them. Im hoping there thinking that its a sweet performance mod not an engine about to blow up because thats what it sounds like. I can tell a difference in power too, it's slightly slower than it use to be. Sounds sort of like the pistons are wobbeling inside the block or something im not sure. I dont want this to get so bad that it ruins my engine, im driving it soft until I get this fixed. What should I do guys? I'll try to post a the crappy vid I made with my phone that has sound. Though it wouldn't help much because the sound is so low quality i'll see if I can get it up here.

Should I take off the valve cover, maybe I can eyeball it and notice something? Its a KA24DE by the way.

Kinda sounds like you've got a spun bearing and the connecting rod is slapping the side of the block inside.

well its not running anymore because it got so bad and its so incredibly loud. It wont even idle now, I can barely even get it started, have to gas it though. Can also feel the engine grinding in the pedals its so bad.

I had the same sorta noise.....rev it to 6500 and if a rod goes through the block you've probably got a spun bearing......but seriously it sounds like a rod knock

i had a similar experience with my ka24e. took the valve cover off and found a very loose timing chain assembly. to make a long story short, the timing chain guide tensioner had broken, causing the chain to flap around in there.

so that's my experience... take it or leave it.
