The last two mornings when I have started my 94Q, I have heard a real loud squeel for a second or two at most. I had new belts put on about 300 miles ago, could one have stretched?? If you restart it after it has run initially no squeel. Thanks Wayne:help

Just check the tension on the belts. It would be normal for the belts to "break-in" It is wise practice to go back and check any new parts after sufficient break-in period. For example nuts should be retorqued or checked to make sure that they have not vibrated loose. Hose clamps too.

Make sure they're not too tight too! There's a specified deflection that you're shooting for... too tight and you damage the idler pullies, alternator, A/C compressor, etc...

Good call Q451990, Just check a maintenance manual for the deflection. I am sure that my situation I went through last weekend was unrelated but I am sure that having the belts too tight would eventually cause a potentially devistating failure. I have a 92 240SX, my cooling fan came off while turning and busted the fan shroud and electric A/C condenser fan. Nissan charges $230 for that piece, thanks be to eBay and about $30!!! That also left me needing a new water pump (fan is mounted to the spindle) which had to be replaced on the side of the road. Thanks also to so many SR conversions, I will take your spare parts. I am sticking with my KA!!!
