Hi, when going at slow speeds I get a very concerning popping noise from the front right corner of my Qx4. It happens in both drive and reverse but seems to happen more when the wheels are turned. When slowing down sometimes I get the loud pop but more often, but not always, I get many small pops until I come to a full stop. The CV axles on both sides are new. Any help is appreciated.

Just an update: The shop has replaced both strut assembles, both cv joints, right side ball joint, and right side control arm. Still getting noise, shop is tearing their hair out trying to figure it out.

The front differential is mounted to the frame by a couple of brackets that have a neoprene antishock type material in them, much like a control arm. Have them take a close look at those brackets.

They do not often fail, but they can cause noises as failure allows front drive components to move more than they should.

Those parts are 54730 and 54710m in the diagram here:

YIKES. Some good advice from 4xq there, though.

Did you ever have the sway bar links replaced?

Changing those should have been a no brainer.
If they knew anything about the R50, the shop should have done that first off, before doing all of the other work.
They wear out rather quickly. They are inexpensive, and easy to replace.
I've replaced mine about 4 times now. Solves a lot of problems.
