Loud noise when A/C is on

Hey all, a couple months ago my car started making this "ticking noise" when the AC is turned on, sounds kind of like tapping, or a wood pecker pecking on metal, haha. So any ideas what it could be? Im thinking compressor?Oliver

it could be your clutch on the compressor. i say this because that is the only thing that kicks on when you turn the ac on.it may or may not be a clutch that can be rebuilt.

there is a way to get the clutch off..but you would have to buy the tool and beat the **** out of it for about 20 minuets and then it iwll come off..but i have an extra ac compressor that worked great as far as i knew that i could sell you..but..if you do decide to get the clutch removal tool then you will always have one...ohh wait i think most part stores have loaner tool programs..good luck
