I was out with my 2006 g35 coupe yesterday,I took off at a stop in manual and hit the rev limiter in 1st gear and then proceeded to shift through with no misses . When I got home, I noticed a loud lifter tap. The car has 40,134 miles on it, and I use synthetic oil every 6000 miles. My questions are; has anyone else had this happen,is this covered under warranty, and should I remove my JWT pop charger before going to the dealer. I'm pretty bummed because this is my dream car and I really take care of it.Thanks for the help

I had a 'loud lifter noise' in my wife's 05 sedan one morning when I started it up. By the time I got to my local Infiniti dealer it had gone away.

It was the timing chain tensioner. They replaced it under warranty.

It took an extra day for them to get it 'approved' since I do my own oil changes. So, I got the keep their loaner an extra day!

Is the tapping only when the engine is cold?

Do what SVT says. Hope you keep your oil change receipts

LOL

maybe thats how the fight got started??

To the OP, i would recommend oil change intervals LESS THAN 6K miles. 4K is about the longest you really wanna go. Sometimes I might push it to 5K if it was all freeway driving across states.

I would always change what you can easily change to stock when you want warranty work.

I would think you should be easily able to go the full distance to 7500 without issue if driving the car moderately.

On the other hand fairly cheap insurance. The difference over 100000 being about 600 bucks based on a $50 oil change.

One of the problems I am thinking about posts similar to this where one is stating driving habits is in a contested warranty job. Would Nissan looked for posts stating the origins of various problems in various forums. It certainly occurs with medical insurance companies.
