Loud knocking time for Engine tear down

Starting the tear down process this weekend. My guess is that its going to be a bent rod that is causing the loud rod knock sound.

Here is a pick of it sitting on the engine stand.Requires 4 bolts M10-1.5X75 (Lowes part number 214487.)Notice the duck tape around the egr pipe



Lot of people ask where to hook up the engine hoist. Here are a few picks of where we connected the chain to the engine.First pick used power steering bracket



wrap the other part of the chain around the intake manifold.

Yea a friend of mine has an account at a local machine shop so I hope to have the engine torn down this weekend. We are going to visit a shop for the bottom end and another shop for the heads. I trust him because he has built a lot of engines. He use to work for a Toyota dealer for many years but is now a network consultant.

My plans are new rods and pistons. Don`t know what kind yet. Arp studs and mains. The rest I am going to go stock except for a 3 angle valve job. I don`t have a ETA yet but want to finish before cold weather gets here.

Dammit! BD manifold cracked! I knew I heard exhaust leak. It cracked under the manifold where all the pipes come together. I will have to take a pic of it

How bad was the knocking? Should have did a sound clip of it.

Yea my friend suggested that but I couldn`t find the camera that does sound and video.

The knock noise was loud. The exhaust leak was annoying.

muffler shop + 30 bucks = rewelded manifold

I am going to get a friend of mine to weld it since it is in a bad spot. Plus I need to reinforce it as well.

Hey don`t knock duck tape. After all it was one of the fixes suggested for the Space Shuttle!! LOL

u have a picture of where its cracked? i need to see if mine is cracked at the same spot yours is.
