hey guys,

I drive a 1997 Q45 about to hit the 150,xxx mark and recently I've been hearing loud high pitch screetching noises coming from my fans and belts right behind the front engine cover. I did do a couple searches and it only showed the 91-96 Q's.

I talk to a mechanic and he said he thinks it could be the water pump. When I start the car in the morning it won't make the noise but sometimes at night it will come on and get louder passing 2500 rpm's.

If anybody knows what might be the problem plz give me some solutions because I can't drive it around with the horrible noise, I mean it's really annoying and loud. and what else would I have to replace for the 150,xxx miles mark?

thanks in advance-

Not sure about the Q's but my J30 had a air conditioner tensioner pulley that squealed like a stuck pig.

My bet is one of the idler pulley bearings.

You can get them here if the G50 and the FGY33 ones are the same: http://www.activesuspensionsys....html

Your "mechanic" doesn't know shoeshine from schnizzle when it comes to a VH41DE.

There are 6 bearings and four belts. Replace all the belts and any bearing that is not perfectly smooth and silent when spun. Use only top grade bearings.

okay so I took out the radiator, fan, all the belts out and bearings and found the problem. The adjustable bolt that goes behind the metal shield that runs the main belt to the water pump was missing. Nothing was holding it in place thats the reason for the squeeling noise. found one at the junkyard for $10.. luckily it wasn't anything serious just the fact it was a lot of labor to get to the belts.

thanks guys for all the help and info.
