ok i have a 90 sohc 240 with a new block but it has a horrible metal on metal noise when i start it up, but not all the time. then once the motor gets hot my engine noise gets embarassingly loud, it has a weird rattle that starts around 2000 rpm. when its at idle it sounds like my headers are coming off can someone help. oh and the timing chain is in tact and looks new still.

if its a 'clanking' sound, check the timing chain tensioners. This is a very common problem.
