Electric fans are cheap as hell. But you gotta hitup the junkyard. Wiring is cheap too. Probably will cost you in total 40-50 smackers. If you have A/C then you have a fan. Just gotta rewire. I just took off my clutch fan.

How does "get rid of the clutch fan" cost money?

Unbolt the damn thing, rewire the A/C fan relay to work off a +12 switched line, boom. done.

it's not hard. and if you'd be interested, i could post more detailed instructions tomorrow. :)

you've got a couple of months until you start getting serious heat out your way. your cooling system will be fine until such a time. mine lasted a season of hard N/A action with just the a/c fan, though I do have my A/C condenser removed.

I really want to get rid of my mechanical fan, because I notice some cracks on it!

I do have a/c with electric fan but I was wondering if you could wire it somewhere to make it only spin when it gets hot?

Or just make it run all time? Or with manual switch?

It could be your fan clutch. You can check it by seeing how freely the fan turns (check it with the engine off). If it is stiff, you've found the problem.

When mine went bad, it sounded like I had a jet engine. That was cool, but sometimes it squealed which was very annoying.

I replaced it with a new Nissan clutch, which was surprisingly expensive. :rolleyes

prolly fan clutch.. is it on all the time?

Altho, with it on it sounds like you've got a monster engine in there.. ITS SEXY :)

hehe.. new fan clutch is around $200 from nissan, $50-$75 from your local auto parts store [non nissan of course]. Make sure your belt isn't too tight or loose..
