I have an 07 Versa CTV hatch with 71K miles and no mods. In the past 5 months there has been a bad buzzing noise (sounds like air bypass or something) during acceleration. It happens between 1.5k and 3.3k RPM and disappears at higher. I can make the noise occur at any time but usually below highway speeds when I put the pedal on the floor and it begins the acceleration. It's embarrassingly loud. It seems to come from the drivers side under the hood. It only occurs when the engine is in gear. If in neutral or park and the accelerator is pressed, it doesn't happen. I thought at first that I had broken the PCV valve and that was causing the voise. Upon inspection, I found the plastic duct that the PCV hose connected to had snapped. The part was replaced but the noise wont go away. Unrelated: Engine light was on for a week with an "engine too lean code" until I replaced the PCV duct but it went off 2 days after that repair.
I dont want to take the car to the dealer because I have had nothing but bad luck there (they usually break something on the car-- one time they backed it into a pole) so I am trying to diagnose the problem. I have looked at motor mounts and they seem fine. Any help would be appreciated.
