Hey guys, I've searched around for this and couldn't find anything. Its seems like when I make a turn, usually low speed, left or right something below the drivers side right by my clutch pedal makes a loud "clunk" noise. I've already jacked up my car to check the TC bushings and they're fine, no leaks. I've also checked the "boots"<not sure the technical name for it...the black think that is part of the tie rod???> and no fluid coming out of that. No loss of P/S fluid either. So I went to my busy mechanic and he told me to recreate the noise, but the damn thing wouldn't. It made the sound just this morning but now it seems fine. Can anyone shed some light to this?

BTW its a 89 Nissan 240sx FB w/ Intrax springs and a front strut bar, no other suspension mods. If you need more info please ask. Thanks guys!

Can you feel anything hitting through the floorboards? My old 240 always make a weird sound like that and felt like something was smacking the floorboards but we never figured out exactly what. Oh, nice looking car, is that original paint or did you have it repainted(if so what color)?

It could be possible its the springs shifting in the strut plates. If the noise becomes more appearent take the strut bar off and see if the noise goes away. My thinking is maybe its shifting when turning the wheel and the road force attempts to flex the body causeing your clunk. Also take a good look at you lower control arm mount bushings as well as the crossmember mounts.

Thanks for explaining that for me nistech. I wish my old 240 would have lasted long enough to track down the problem. Kirb, would you mind telling me the color code if you car(its on a little plate on the driver's side door opening).

Hey Nistech can this be potentially damaging to my car if it is either the bushing or the springs, that I've been driving on it? And I keep thinking whenever I hear the noise that it might be my rack and pinion...please tell me I'm a fool for thinking that! And shadowknight according to the FAQ page my VIN would not tell you the color code to my car anyways. Trust me its stock red paint for the 89.

Not hearing the noise first hav=nd I cant tell you for sure if it will or not. and yes it could potentialy be your rack end play as well.

I would check everything suspension related. Check your upper and lower ball joints by wiggling the tire and feeling for any movement.

Might want to take it to a shop that has computerized alignment equipment and have them check the camber, that was thought to contribute to the issue on my old car. If need be ther all sorts of adjustment kits out there. And I wasn't referring to your VIN, there is a no. deisgnating color as well(I.e. why I said color code and not VIN), just forget it I will assume it is "Hot Red" or color code "526"(I am trying to find a good red for my new 240).

kirbstomp open your hood some where on the fire wall there should be a silver plate the tells all about your car. model, trim, axel, engine, trans ect... this will list the paint code right next to the trim line there will be like 3 numbers and a space then the single letter trim code. post the 3 numbers. thats your paint code.
