So a few weeks ago, I got into my 1995 Altima GXE and when I started it, I noticed a very loud buzzing coming from the passengers side, right near the bottom of the door. Apparently there's a computer or something in this area?

The buzzing only lasted a few seconds, then went away. Now, when I start my car... the buzzing is lasting for a long period of time, and I hear the sound every few seconds while I drive.

Lastnight, while I was driving home I was stopped at an intersection, then the park brake, and the battery lights both came on, and stayed on my dash. They won't go away.

Is this an altenator problem? The buzzing noise is really worrying me...

yes your alt diode tree went out. repl the alt.. dont think its related to the buzzing. but it could be. get the alt done and recheck for the noise.BTW if you havent had the passenger air bag recall. contact the dealer and see if it apploies to your vehicle i believe it does.

That's perfect. Had the alt replaced, and the lights went out. Thanks for the help.

Any idea what the buzzing sound could be? Replacing the alt didn't make the sound go away.

Also, could you tell me exactly what that is on the 1995 Altimas, behind the plastic on the right side of the passengers foot area? Computer? I took it in to have it looked at, and the mechanic said there wasn't really any numbers on the part or anything, so it was tough to say what it was, and he wasn't sure why the buzzing was coming through.

Anyone else had this problem?

Dont get smart, people at least are trying to help, take some initiative, take the plastic off and see wtf is buzzing, if its anything like a 240sx then its your ECU behind the kick panel, and it should NOT make any noise...

Get smart? I wasn't getting smart. I thanked the guy for his help. He told me to get my alternator replaced. I did, and it fixed my problem with lights coming on in my dash. If you thought I was being sarcastic, I'm sorry. I really wasn't, I'm very thankful for his help.

I was simply asking if anyone could shed some light on my other problem, that's all. Seeing if anyone else was having this "buzzing" problem. I took the car to see a mechanic, and they didn't know what was going on, I'm still waiting to hear back from them. I'm NOT a mechanic, I'm a young female... so I'm NOT going to try and fix problems like this myself. I know now that is the ECU behind the plastic, and it IS making noise. Lots of it. That's the problem. As you rudely stated, it shouldn't make noise, but it does. THAT'S why I'm asking for help.

If you're not going to help, and you just want to be rude, don't post to me. I'm here for help, just like everyone else.

are you sure the noise isnt coming from the center console near the lower left corner of the glove box? I have replaced a heater box door actuator there on several 93 to 97 altimas because they were over running and clicking rapidly on their stops. try sitting in your passenger seat and listen for the noise cause it may just be deflecting the sound so it appears to be coming from the right kick panel.

ok the module in the kick panel is the automatic trans control module. if its a canadian model the daytime running lights module is also in there behind the trans control module

Yup, it's a Canadian model Altima. So if this module is buzzing, that's probably going to mean major repairs. I think I'll just have to wait until I go to a more major centre so I can take the car in to a Nissan dealership and have them look at it.Do you think the car is still safe to be driving?

So after all this time, turns out I defenitely need to get my daytime running light module replaced. I got used to the buzzing it was making, and every time it started to bother me, I would just turn on my headlights and the sound would stop.

However, now... my highbeam light on my dash comes on every now and then when I start my car, even when my highbeams aren't on. One of my headlights went out, so we went to change the bulb and it turns out the socket was fried to a crisp. It was replaced and worked fine, then the other headlight went out. They keep switching. So now the best I get is one headlight at a time and my daytime running lights don't work at all. Such a hassle.

Anyone know about how much is costs for a DRL module? I'm taking it straight to the Nissan dealership so I know it won't be cheap...
