I had the dealer do a decarb...throttle body cleaning and I got my car back tonight. I now hear a loud air roaring type sound coming from under the hood. Kind of like a roar at WOT where if you leave both clamps on one side of the airbox unclamped and let air in behind the filter you get a roaring sound. I checked everything and could not find anything that was obvious. Any thoughts?

Does it come one while the car is started and in idle? Comes on and then goes off? If so, could be the fan.

no....just under WOT or under a hard acceleration. It is super quiet just cruising, idling, and under grandma acceleration....but under anything past half way I hear this roaring sound that definetly was not there before and is somewhat anoying as I am not hearing just the engine anymore.

Maybe they installed the air filter wrong, it mgiht not be a bad idea to go through and check everything once over.....

I checked everything today and adjusted a few things last night and no this morning I did not hear it like I was hear it last night. I don't know that if maybe when they did the cleaning that something must have got loose or something causing that funny loud roaring sound. I am going out for lunch to do a few high speed runs to see if it is there or not. I chased down an older mid 90's (before 96) Porsche this morning hitting 130mph...he pulled on me a little but not much and he was surpised to see me pull along side him at 125.....but I don't think he ever downshifted, but at least I caught his attention.

Check the largish air hose connected to the bottom of the rubber duct between the MAF and the throttle body, I'll bet it got disconnected when they cleaned your throttle body.

Thanks 911/q45 that was the problem. As I raised the rpms while the hood was up and I could hear a gasp of air sound and then a roar and it was that hose. All is good and queit now. I don't mind roaring sounds, but when I don't have the cone air filter....that really sucks.

Not much better even with the cone filter, in my opinion only. :D
