Hey guys im new(just registered 5 minutes ago).anyways first I had a problem with the wire harness I was runnin only on two cylinders then i got the firing order correct with the help of yury from HT. Now I was going to time the engine and I took off the valve cover off and spark plugs out i began to turn the engine with starter(to make it quicker) I gave it one quick turn (ok) then I turned it one more time and WHAM!! rocker arms shot out hit my hood and fell to the floor. They actually broke off so i got the pieces left that were by the valve springs and tried to turn it by hand and it only turns to a certain point then wont turn any more. This really sucks 10 months and not going anywhere Any ideas to what might have happened?

Good question....thats not how you time a car....as for tearing up your valvetrain...yeah, your going to be spending some more money now. CTC motorsports can sell you a race built SR20 cylinder head :D haha, wow...you have one of the weirdest problems I've heard of.

Because i was going to put the CAS back in the engine I was going to line the punch marks on the time chain first and then put everything back together to try and start it and Nathan how much is that head. He He

way too much probably...they dont have ANY information on them: http://shopctc.site.yahoo.net/srheads.html ahhh, I can see why you took off the valve cover then. I have no idea why they broke like that either, that really sucks!

damn that blowz, did you ever take off the cams, maybe to put on a new headgasket or something. Maybe your cams were misaligned, better check your valves too to make sure they are not f***ed.

You turned the engine using the starter, so maybe there was a tool left on top of the engine? Like a screwdriver or something that got into the cam and got stuck, then put force on the stoppers so they came out. Look for something physically stuck preventing the cam from turning near the broke arms.

Good luck!

A customer brought me a car once becuse #4 wasn't firing and the same thing happened. The rocker arm was out of place when we took the valve cover off. It turned out that the intake cam shaft snapped right underneath the cam holder so it wasn't visable until we took the cam holders off.

I found the problem!!! damn time chain jumped a couple of teeth and the piston hit the valve which threw out the rocker arm. The time chained jump due to lack of oil pressure before i even found the engine had the problem. So i probably have some bent valves. Oh well i must move on with project. I have gone this far and will not go back!

Damn man I'm sorry, that sucks. It always sucks when you get a bum motor. I know exactly how that feels though, I'm allready on my second engine cause my first had bad rings, so bad that I had no compression. Keep on it though, they are hella fun cars when they work :D Chris
